Got mine a couple of days ago. The CA is well controlled. Almost like the apo. This is a keeper!

I recently picked up both Summis 35-50 f1.4 VII and these lenses cannot resolve details at 60 MP. they are very soft, with tons of CA and Halation especially added that now you can focus closer. These are great for B/W photography where color fringing and ghosting can be part of the look. But I prefer my Summicron f2 APO for various reasons instead. Tested the Voig tlander offerings 35-50mm and they render detail way better, hence why the Voigtlander are slightly larger to accomodate optic formula that can resolve all that MP. Leica needed to design these two from the ground up rather than regurgitating the old film optical formula. Also if they had planned to introduce these lenses they should've made a range finder that allows for that closer focussing distance. I find the fact that I had to spend $750 for a Vistaflex 2 to previews focus at close range, a great business move for Leica but a terrible on for my pocket. :) I want to see a new 75mm mm that can resolve all that detail of my M11 Thank you for the video.

I think you are in luck, the 75mm Noctilux is a very sharp lens with minimal CA wide open. I must disagree on the 35mm and 50mm Summilux, the reason why you use this is to have the amazing bokeh and light glow at 1.5. you won't find a smother lens in the 50mm from other companies. It is subtle but it is there. As you close down a few clicks you reach sharpness of the 50mm APO with amazing details. In that sense, it is two lenses in one. If you are interested only in sharpness and details you are better off with the APO lenses. Many of us that shoot with the summilux and noctilux have gone true the process of getting sharp imager, but then are more interested in character and magic rather than perfection.

Love the look of the body design. Focus peaking will only work when you start from 0.7 when you’re using the live view on the back.

Focus Peaking works all the time in live view, but i don't use it so much, it is not as precise.

Sorry, I meant the 'Focus Aid' function in live view. Later I found out I can start 'Focus Aid' without using the focus ring,

@@shawnthale Yes I actually use the little FN button to activate zoom, many time I focus without zooming in with EVF with the 50mm Summilux wide open

I find that it has tons of chromatic aberrations from F1.4 to f2.8 Has anyone experienced the same. Also a lot of halation that makes taking portraits at close range very challenging open wide. I have to stop down to F4. Could it be my own lens?

I can't see much at all. sounds like a defect. Halation is more a film characteristic

blows my mind when people take the rear cap off and sit the lens down with the bare rear element on a surface like that
