Great stuff. I was born in Countesthorpe, 1964 & have lived in Leicester all my life. The old "Castle Courts"...Wow! - I had to spend a few quid in there for my teenage motoring offences! - I also recall taking a young lady out to the ABC cinema for our first date, circa 1980..?? - We went to see the Elephant Man, not realising at the time, that we were literally half a mile away from where it all happened!

Thank you. I was born in Leicester 1960, now living in Cornwall and while I am still in love with the city of my birth, I don't think I would want to return now as so much has changed. I could only find my way around the city two years ago by looking for the church spires and the clock tower!

*You would think today in Leicester you are in Poland, Romania, Afghanistan, Iran and North African Muslim Country or Iraq. My Brother in law moved to Helston in early 1980's and what a wise move indeed.*
@@GrrMeister what a silly Billy comment, Leicester has always had a proud history of diversity. The city (like many across the UK) does look run down but that is more down to the economic issues we as a country have had for many years and as I say is repeated up and down the UK.

I used to love going to the ABC cinema and the old Odeon one too, also seems weird the old train bridges are no longer there. I still like living in Leicester even if others don't.☺ born and bread in Leicester/Leicestershire

Hi K evvy. I have been looking for so long for footage or pics of the large coop chimney that was on the corner of Glenfield Rd. I went to Christ the King school and remember always having it within eye shot. I would love to see some footage of it exists
