Saturday, January 28, marked a special date for all kids fighting cancer - it was The 17th Annual Lemon Ball! We were so excited to welcome supporters both in-person and online to honor Alex Scott’s legacy and celebrate the strides it has made in childhood cancer research. To our 600 guests who attended (and even more tuning in virtually!) we cannot thank you enough for the evening you made so sweet.
With your help, we raised more than $850,000. This is enough to fund our new R Accelerated Awards, a four-year grant created to advance the pace of innovative research and support researchers pursuing a long-term career in pediatric oncology. These projects will define the future of childhood cancer research; they will introduce safer and better treatments for kids, faster. Thank you so much for your continued support of ALSF, our research endeavors, and the many childhood cancer families who need our help.
We honored a few long-time ALSF supporters, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and Jamie and Charlene Kohl of Kohl’s Kicking Camps, with Alex Scott Crystal Cup Awards. Guests online and in-person also helped select the Childhood Cancer Data Lab as our Lemon Ball Fund-A-Project winner, with a $10,000 donation from Volvo Cars.
