I think some of the features come down to cost measures. This year and last year we saw price increases, and it was ridiculous. If I were still into gaming laptops I would be considering the Eluktronics updated models with the updated liquid cooler. Who on earth though it would be a good idea for a 10gb/s ethernet speed capable machine to downgrade the port from 2.5gb/s to 1gb/s? Like, just why? Also the new design doesn't look as clean or as beautiful as the last year one (really Lenovo, on a "premium" laptop, we are coming back to a plastic touchpad). But the ethernet speed is just too huge of a minus these days, especially where I live and can have up to 10gb/s speeds.

So everything that you'd notice when working or gaming are better - 4080 significantly better, but some of the bells and whistles have become more muted/removed. I think the chassis is magnesium and recycled aluminium so I'm not sure there's actually plastic on it? I've never been a fan of the more OTT RGB in modern laptops anyway so I don't see many of the new changes as negative. The speed of the ethernet is a little annoying but 2.5Gbps isn't that common still even though it's been around for ages. As you say maybe they're allowing for an even higher priced option to have some of the more gamery-features added back in further down the line, or will just take all feedback into account for next year and maybe then it'll go back in that direction again? Either way, it's still impressively fast.

Oh so they removed a bunch of features I don't at all care about and are therefore not going to charge me for things I'm not even going to use, but if you slap a 4080 and the latest gen processor it performs way better than a 30 series from last year? I absolutely understand why a reviewer would mention everything pertaining to the laptop but you guys acting like this is a massive downgrade are ridiculous. There's only a few things you actually need to care about when it comes to gaming laptops. Is the build quality trash, how good is the screen, how hot does it run, what kind of performance can you get out of it. That's it. Honestly, if there were an option to remove the touchpad, webcam, speakers and all the RGB nonsense on the sides of gaming laptops then I'd pick that to save money in a heartbeat. Frankly if you're gaming without a mouse and headphones or decent sound setup then what are you doing? Bottom line, this thing has more power than last year's, has a good screen and runs cool so yes, it's better than last year's.

Hey man, i ended up buying this laptop on sail for 2800 Aud with a i9 and 2070, I think that's a good deal considering the 1tb ssd and 240 hertz display, btw love your videos, only found your channel last week

Just replaced an Alienware with 1080 ti for the legion 7 slim. Was going to build this year but just liked the portability. It’s insane how prices are right now.

Is the Lenovo Legion 7i (2022) Core i9 discontinued? I can’t find it anywhere, even on Lenovo’s website. Hoping it’s just a stock issue and not a complete discontinuation. :( Does anyone see it available anywhere?

Still a bit sleeker even if there's some questionable design changes. It does seem like most of these design downgrade has kept the cost slightly down. Still begs the question of whether the Legion Pro 7(i) and Pro 5(i) are successors to the Legion 5(i) Pro and 7(i) or a new product entirely. I'm pretty sure they'll refresh the Legion 5 instead.

In these few days I heard some news saying that the Lenovo notebook like ideapad using the low temperature solder on board and coursing the cpu are easy to broke after 2 years, I wondering that did the legion also using it?

The price isn't bad considering the specs. I have a Blade 15 with a 2080 but the Blade 16 with a 4080 is nearly $4K after tax. Just nuts and not worth it in my opinion.

Mayday mayday. I need immediate advice as I have to buy a laptop at earliest! Options: ROG M16 vs Legion Pro 7i both configured with 4080. Question: I like M16 personally but I want to run Microsoft flight simulator at max settings. Can M16, 4080 run MSFS at max settings?

Really glad I bought the Gen 7 i9, RTX3080ti, 32gb last week as it really is the perfect laptop. Wouldn't have bought the new one as it's a serious downgrade.

I just bought an Asus rog flow x13, and I don't see anywhere the option for the refresh rate to switch when I unplug my laptop, is it because I'm still using Windows 10 ? or is it just another bug in Armory Crate

it was time to change the whole thing or just leave it as is with the new specs but i think they just got confused or they are trying to change it for next years

Thanks for this comparison Jarrod. In my opinion this years version clearly looks like a downgrade. The new hardware from external parties might be better, but the part lenovo actually engineered is worse... I gues they had reasons for that. But I am still very happy that I got a 2022 version. It delivered 'the cherry on top'. Something this ears version probably won't...
