Excellent video. Few additions: When unscrewing this element watch out for the element behind this one: not secured. The front element of this unit can also be removed if the issue sits there. This video was excellent as I did not know the rear element could be removed. One other issue of this lens is with the unit 3 ( just behind the aperture) This is a sealed construction unfortunately. Have you ever taken apart unit 3?

Hi Thanx for the great video that gives some confidence when buying this lens. Question: I have my sight on a lens that is clear at the moment. After all these years; Will it stay like that or will the haze stillcome at some point. Regards from the Netherlands
@diyextravaganza
Жыл бұрын
Hello, I bought a clear one a few years ago, but the haze came probably after two years. So, I'd say it is inevitable. What you really need to pay attention is if the small group (the third assembly from the front, or second from the back), has haze or separation, less common but happens nevertheless. That one is a sealed element that you cannot open without destructive means. Cheers.

Hi I have these 35-70 af2.8 D, and I used them in the past on a Nikon D70, D300, F70, and FM3a and worked great . Did not use them for quite few years now I tried them and noted that the focus ring is not working the full range from 0.6 to infinity, it’s working only from. 1m to 3m , at both end of the range is not touching the end of the range. Would you please advise what could be the issue and if this is repairable? I live in Texas USA
@diyextravaganza
Жыл бұрын
Hi, first thing I'd try would be to remove the bayonet (remove black part first) and remove the focusing gear and try to move by hand the focusing ring, just to understand where is blocking. It is repairable but hard to tell without having a look at the lens. Cheers.

Hi Man! I disassembly the lens as per your video, very nice and good help...but I tried to remove the haze from the same element like you but it continue on the lens surface after clean twice. It's normal or maybe need adittional works or products? By way Ibidentify small fungus on the lens near on bayonet...can you help me on this?

For the haze, you need to do many many times, it will go away eventually. For the fungus, can't you add a little video on your KZitem? Best
@@fabiosales2985 Hi, I saw, for the haze, you'll need to insist on the cleaning, the next group is tricky because it is sealed and near impossible to open, I usually replace it altogether.

Hi, you mean the small one, that one it's near impossible to fix as it has a metal casing. I've tried but it takes an incredible amount of effort to open. Finally, I've settled to buying 35-70mm 2.8 in unrepairable condition and keep those elements for replacement. Cheers.

is there a way to fix the front glass becaues mine has scraches on it is it possible to fix it and where
@diyextravaganza
Жыл бұрын
Removing scratches usually involves repolishing, which will remove the coatings, so, you need to recoat. Since the lens is a common one, that will probably cost more than buying a "parts" lens. This is what I usually do, I buy copies beyond repair and recover the parts. I think I have one front element, I can sell it to you but it will depend more on where you live to see if adding the shipping price makes sense. Best
