As a dad amateur who picked up the 50Sii and a 35-70 for $2000, I'm having a blast. Medium format digital has finally reached a price point where normal people who don't make money from photography can enjoy it. Those who say "you can't tell the difference from full frame!"... *have never shot a medium format digital camera*

I miss the film wedding days. Give the client the negs and prints then see you later. Digital. I love tweaking every photo until 5.00am for a few days.

I love the 63mm... brutally sharp. I also own the 80mm. Slow focus, but a very nice lens. I would suggest you check out the 32-64. Very sharp wide open and has a great zoom. Effectively a 25-51mm lens.

Good to know, I don’t use zooms too often, I just prefer the look of a prime especially since I’m using the GFX primarily for portraits.

truly amazing wedding pictures with thee GF 80mm Paul! it helps that it on a beautiful location but you hit it out of the park. I tried the GF 63mm and it feels slower then my GF 80mm in terms of focus. maybe the camera didn't have the right firmware but it tended to focus hunt a lot.

The mitakon is decent but rendering from Older nikkors is better for portrait imho... the $$$ spent on the mitakon is better going towards a zeiss 100 which will render fine on GFX with only a slight vignette. Thanks for sharing.

There’s definitely a lot of options out there, it really comes down to personal preference. I have a Contax 80mm f2 that I want to use on it once I get my reducing adapter that’s on back order.

That’s great to see the GFX and great photographers like yourself moving more into weddings and portraits, the standard in the past decade I believe has dropped due to iPhones etc, and hopefully you will remind couples on the quality they should be aiming for. I was just wondering what system do you use for the more fluid action shots?
@paulfrancisphotography

I was using Nikon mirror less since that was what I started with originally, but I just moved to Sony A7 IV cameras since the AF and lens options are better, IMHO.

What’s cool about the mode dial on the 50Sii compared to its predecessor: it remembers different WB settings! Mitakon seems tempting…

I have the memory settings setup on my main wedding cameras but haven’t taken the time on the GFX yet. The Mitakon is a fun creative lens, for the money it’s the best bang for the buck on the GFX system, IMHO.

Thank you for sharing. Nice review. I have the 110 (amazing) and the 45 (amazing). The Mitakon 65 is en route. I shoot lots of vintage so am hoping the 65 surpasses some of my old lens but we'll see!

@@lemon58421 It is a difficult manual lens... it's much easier for instance to shoot with my old Minolta 58 1.4. But when you nail it, it's special and great. I hardly use it for commercial shoots (way too slow), use it a little for some portrait sessions (never with families with children)... tend to use it more for my own special projects. For me it seems best for shooting individuals and for my special projects, like shooting cars or scenes.

I have GFX50R and new GFX100S - another univetse about autofocos - easy phase AF + contrast - AF - GFX50* have only contrast autofocus - theori about precision and slower is LOL - is slow and unprecise ;-) About LENS - i test shift focus 2.8/28 Schneider-PCR - WOW - old lens that is same quality as moder lens - extremly good, better that any lens from canon or nikon ;-) - but i change it for GF 20-35/4 - very good lens too, my first zoom in - is betre that 24/4 - that is SH* - same optical qulaity, but don;'t work AF in dark area and extremely slow - 20-35 is fast and same optical qulaity - WOW. My next lenses: 45/2.8 - becuase i use on FF only 35/1.4 ... sometime 135/1.8 - btw i use this lenses with AF adapter on GFX - i disable crop i use full sensor 80/1.7 - of cousre, now is 110/2.8 non sellable decoration ;-) About FF lens that work on GFX - all shift lens, sigam art 35/1.4 - corner is blured like big format, in middle perfect !, signma art 135/1.8 - WOW like original lenses, full picture sharp as hell, exelent optical qulaity, like 80/1.7 - AMAZING Now i have hobby buy MINOLTA lenses, why? becuase al othes is crap ;-)) - of couse shneider is different level from Mars that 30yer old lens is mbetre tha many modern lenses ;-) - and funny is MINOLTA MC/SC lenses is cheap - but MINOLTA make many modern lens for Karl-Ceizz - trust me, this is why SONY now have many CARL-ZEISS ;-) From minolta i have ROKKOR 58/1.2 - MAZING - yep oposit light dont work and cut my model ;-)) - but with flash OK, or normal - WOW like large-format look next is 135/2.8 - why ? - is good, not that good as SIGMA ART, but have integrate sun blind and is extreme small an light - funny lens that have charcter - yep character is technical quality issue - but look good - old MINOLTA is better that modern NIKKOR or CANON ;-)) - yep for multicoated need ND filter etc. - and better that YASHICA - that is ovepriced ;-)) MINOLTA lenses is very very cheap on ebay 58/1.2 about 300 USD, 135/2.8 about 70 USD - sometime is possible old version about 40 USD - and is good. 80/1.7 have relative fast AF, maybe it is becuase is precision and work on lowlight too ;-)) - yep maybe is 45/2.8 faster. What i need from FYJI - prime lens between 35-40 mm / 1.x (1.4 ? maybe 1.7)- 2-3k euro - i buy it

Hello. This video is very interesting. I'd like to seek your advance, actually I use gfx 100S and GF45F2.8, GF110F2. Now in europe Fujifilm is on campaign cashback, so I'm interested in 80F1.7, but I'm also interested in Mitakon 65, it is very good separation from object and background. I'm afraid that the sharpness in open wide Fstop of Mitakon 65. 80F1.7 is very similler to 110F2 and I know good quality of sharpness in wide Fstop F1.7, but I think Mitakon has unique image of 3D. Do you like and use very much Mitakon 65? Is it very good lens of image quality of sharpness?

I run a 360 camera during some portrait sessions for behind the scene video. The mount I came up with to hold the 360 cam in the hotshoe rubs against the camera in that spot so I added some gaffers tape as a buffer against wear.
