USAR PET RESCUE
We were asked to find Allisons and Robs missing pet "Leroy" a pussy cat hulky 77lbs Pitbull missing for over seven days in the Middlesex, NJ area. There was only one brief sighting by the library and off of a surrounding road. Other than that zero sightings since then for five days. USAR Pet Rescue was called in and we decided the best course of action was to launch the next day before sunrise due to the high heat that day and tomorrows expected heat wave and high UV index which plays havoc on our thermal camera. Upon arrival at 4:20 AM we assesed the sightings and decided to launch between the pet parents home and the library to give a better overall search area coverage. Our search began around the library and then the house and from experience I find many dogs take refuge near railroad tracks due to the seclusion from people and clear open sight. Dogs become feral very soon after running off and as such are extremely cautious to roam without being able to see in the distance for any predators. As in the video I searched along the RR tracks about one mile from the launch base and had a thermal heat hit and found "Leroy" in between two sets of RR tracks. It was a bitter sweet moment as the video will reveal.
