Thank you, Asami! I've been trying to find ways to "acquire" the language through Comprehensive Input (similar to how a baby would learn -- without textbooks, grammar lessons and etc. Babies learn only via listening, observing, and having their parents talk to them nicely with a positive tone in their voice), and this channel does exactly it! Thank you! Looking forward to more videos from you!

Oh "the sesame street of Japanese learning" sounds so nice! :) Thank you. I hope they have more friends in the future. When I was a kid, I was watching a program for children called "Hatchpotchi Station" where puppets appeared. I haven't seen Sesame Street thoroughly, but it's probably the Japanese version of Sesame Street, so I recommend it :)

Thank you so much for these videos. They help a lot. Question, what's the difference betweがいにわとりがいる/にわとりがいます? I would expect that using the conjugate version of Iru is what is needed here?
@japaneseimmersionwithasami4249
3 жыл бұрын
"にわとり が います。" is a polite or formal speech style, and "にわとり が いる。" is a casual speech style. The verb "いる" is also a conjugation of the verb used when combined with other grammars, for example, "にわとり が いる かもしれません。 (There may be a chicken.)"

I'm sorry to see you gave up on this idea so quick, judging from your other videos. I think the concept is good but has to be refined. Repetition and full sentences aren't as helpful, but there is a long phase of just naming things (whether it is objects, or states, or actions) that people have to go through to acquire words. Ideally by seeing different things get named the same way, people can infer the bounds of the meaning of a word, or by seeing antonyms contrasted (柔らかいと硬い) are also easy to understand without translation. Even though I read well in Japanese, I'd still be interested in such a video series as there are many ordinary things I don't know the name of or don't hear often enough to recall without effort. Best of luck with your channel.

I’ve been using Duolingo for Japanese and it’s been good, but I feel like every time I have to go back to English to translate something or read directions in English I loose my momentum. It’s nice to learn Japanese IN Japanese. This is the first time I’ve seen something that does this at this level that a beginner can understand. Stuff like this is usually in an intermediate or higher level so it’s nice to see it here for beginners. Kinda like a Japanese Sesame Street :)
