My brother (who is English btw ) was invited to play up on stage with Earl Scruggs ,a few years back, at the Ohio Country Music Festival. My bro. had been on a waiting list and borrowed money to buy a Gibson Granada 1937 (?) just like Earl's. Earl looked at it and just said ...." Nice banjo you got there, Phil" . After the show Earl, who was very old by then, insisted that Phil help him from the stage and also had breakfast with him the next day. My brother's dreams of a lifetime came true !

Great Dobro break from Uncle Josh. There's a version out there, oddly enough done by Josh Graves and Kenny Baker, where the banjer picker is using D-tuners on it.

It's unbelievable how us banjo players have evolved from one guy. We tend to take him for granted sometimes, but then look back at our roots and wonder "how did he come up with that style?"

@TheTheoldgit What a cool image: the home of Lennon and McCartney who also loved American music! I made it a point to visit Liverpool years ago when I was there on a visit. I could see why Lennon thought of it as a smaller NY city and why all those US records poured in with the arriving sailors!
