I'm so sorry, that Brian has lost his Falsetto during the 90ies. In 1989, on the Summer Camp (also elsewhere here) he made it perfect. But Al is the all time youngster, still singing like 50 years before. It's wonderful.

It is indeed Jeff Foskett singing lead. It's hard to believe how well he's maintained his falsetto over the years. But to the original comment, Al has retained his youthful voice, as well. I remember hearing him as the standout at the 50th anniversary concerts. He sounded like he was 30 years old. Super strong voice, and rocking it out.

This was the B-side to "California Girls". It should have been released as a single in it's own right. I don't think I've heard this on the radio since '65.

When I got the BW "Imagination" album and saw "Brian Wilson/Michael Love" credit for this track, I thought it was something which had been shelved and which Brian had just then finished. Apparently I'd never heard the BB original...

You are exactly right! It should have been released as a single. I can never grow tired of this wonderful song. Of course, l can say that about nearly all of Brian's tunes. They grab me, and pull me in!! Heck, l am 69 years old and can not stop playing this stuff either via electronic devices, or simply in my head!

I heard this gem on the radio once in the late 1980s on an adult contemporary radio station playing a collection of old Beach Boys tunes cause 1960s music was in back then. So I heard this song, just that one time, never knowing the title, but the tune stuck with me all these yrs. I knew it had the word "run" in the song so I did a search on KZitem and finally found this song the other day. Great tune, should be more well known.

Brian never said he didn’t like the song. He has stated, most recently in his 2015 autobiography, that he didn’t care for his original vocal performance. He said it wasn’t masculine enough. He likes the song. In fact, he recorded it again for his 1998 studio album “Imagination”.

Okay for all the folks who like to cap on Jeffery Foskett, I can sort of see why now.... I have always liked him singing the high harmonies, and he had been needed for the BBs or Brian's touring bands. But he just doesn't handle the lead all that well on this one. Maybe it was just a bad day.....

Derick Sturke maybe, but Derick, its not an easy song to sing lead on..you have to admit.....right bud...but wow look at Brains genius, and the original was Brian leading on this, he had a beautiful falsetto, then Mike comes in "'Guess you know iv waited for you girl" on base...so good...just reminds me of the Beach and Bikinis..

jjs490 Not a slam on anyone. Just that Jeff -- at least on this take -- just didn't sound as good or smooth as I expected. Heck, if it weren't for guys like Foskett and Scott Totten, or Darien or Probyn, we might only have the original records and bad cover bands to listen to!
