Lots of people have really been enjoying the Def Leppard covers, so I figured I'd do more of the ones people are requesting! This one was requested during a stream about a year ago, but it was asked for again recently, so I figured I'd better do it. It's a really fun song, especially around the middle, but it's not too hard (as with most def leppard songs). This is another that I've heard on the radio a bunch, but not as often as some of their bigger hits. I've also not yet been able to see them live, but I have seen Vivian Campbell live in concert (with Last in Line), and he now plays guitar for Def Leppard (Since 1992)
Two quick things before the tab details. First, the 2 with the bend is there because without the bend it's slightly flat. The string could be tuned up slightly to avoid having to bend, however playing it live with your band, or in a playlist of songs, that's not really practical.
Secondly I felt like trying a new camera angle. If you get to this part in the description, let me know whether you like or don't like this new angle!
Rick Savage has been known to use a P-Bass before, so that's why I chose to use mine for this video, although the 5 string would also be appropriate.. Also, my SansAmp settings are a bit different than his SansAmp settings that can be seen in this video ( • Rig Rundown - Def Lepp... ) at 36:02. The reason is I don't need the extra mids or the drive to cut through a live mix like he would since that's a live rig setup
This site has a lot of good info on his gear if you're interested: equipboard.com/pros/rick-savage
• Def Leppard - Let It G...
I love how loud the bass is here, Rick Savage is using a pick, and it's real easy to hear, so anything not audible before is definitely audible now, although it's not the most complex song xD
Note: 1/2 step down
2:41 - Bar 71 and that whole section
3:26 - Bar 96 - low notes are 0-0, and they are not tied
3:43 - Rick at the end of the line does the 3-2h3-0-Octave
3:50 - 3 8th notes on 5 instead of holding it out like usual
4:02 - Key change uses 0 and 2
4:10 - 120-127 you can hear the pitches well
4:22 - 127-128 tied
• Def Leppard - Let it G...
0:25 - 3-2-0-3-2 the last note is a 2 and nto a 7 (Bar 14)
0:51 - pick, alternate, and open string
I have pretty much all I need at this point since the song is fairly simple. There are lots more live videos that show Rick (such as this one: • Def Leppard - Let it g... )
Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)
