Hi there! :D
Today, I wanted to show you a fun little project I made a while ago. A lot of craft room leftovers because a cute, colorful papercraft wreath to mark the arrival of spring!
This is a super fun, easy craft, where you can use up all thise little bits and bobs one tends to keep. You don't even need a real wreath, you could substitute a ring of cardboard, rolled up paper or some sticks from the great outdoors.
The process is pretty simple: Add color or wrapping to your base. Then cut up leftover paper into two sizes of ovals and glue the small and large pieces on top of each other like I've shown in the video. If you want cherry blossoms, make a little heart shape in two sizes. Then you might want to add some leaves from green paper and flower stamens from thin paper or painted q-tips.
If you feel social like that, you can even work on this project with someone else and it's reasonably safe to do for children or older people.
In addition to looking cute, I also made this for another special reason:
As I've mentioned before, I'm currently taking care of my mom who has been diagnosed with dementia. And one important aspect is toclearly mark her space. Having colorful decor in choice places makes it easier for her to know where she has to go, or remember which room she's in. The hallway in her house is very white all over, even her door. Last year I hung up a autumn wreath and later a small christmas wreath next to the door of her flat. This little pop of color helps her identify her place and helps retain some independence.
Usually there's a lot of fun crafts coming out of occupational therapy that I can put up around the flat, but they hadn't gotten around to making a springtime decor, yet - and having the christmas wreath up until easter would have been weird. So, I went to the craft dungeon and put together a few leftover pieces, cause you all know I love me some trash recycling lol
An added bonus is of course the durability of a papercraft wreath. It might be knocked down at some point, but will still look fine.
Alright, that'll be it for this month, see you again soon for the next project, which took me some more time to finish :D Can't wait to show you!
