I love this series Laura! You really show us how a smaller garden can become more than we ever dream if we work at it one space at a time! Such beauty to enjoy! Thank you for always inspiring me and helping me look at my garden spaces with a different eye! ….and the “secret garden” … be still my heart! 🤗🌻🌷 Happy Spring Laura!

Laura, I am enjoying this series so much! I think there are many of us that jumped into yard/garden projects with more enthusiasm and big dreams than common sense and reality and are now working on the "do over" version of our gardens. It's nice to follow along and get inspired with how beautiful and cohesive your areas are becoming. I laughed when you were showing the other beds over by the greenhouse and talking about how you get distracted when you go out and end up with 5 different projects/areas going and nothing finished. I struggle with that as well as it is hard to remember to stop and enjoy the beauty when you can only see the weeds and work needing to be done. So thank you for the reminder to slow down and enjoy what we have and what work has been done. Keep up the great work and inspiring me to move forward one bed at time and love my garden and all it's opportunities for change and growth.

I can totally relate to pulling apart something that's not working because I'm doing the same exact thing. Two years ago my husband made me two nice raised beds and we fenced in our yard. Come to find out how much my dogs went romping through a new bed and I decided I needed to fence (cute picket) off a section so that I could plant the beautiful plants I envisioned. But now the raised beds don't fit with that plan, so we removed them and are being donated for my garden club where I teach (a win!😊). And now after digging most of the raised bed soil and distributing in the new fenced area, the staking, measuring and planning of the new bed lines for an English cottage style garden has begun. I'm so happy to have made this decision...it was unexpected as everything continued to evolve. I'm realizing some dreams that I didn't imagine until watching people like you and Laura from Garden Answer. I never allowed myself to think this big but as I've gotten older I realize that I need to make things the way I want and not just "look nice" but instead "Beautiful" and something I want to be around all the time. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share my experience and how inspiring watching and learning from other gardeners has been. Last note, your husband sounds as awesome as mine with all the support through the ever evolving garden!😄🌿🌻🌷

you have gotten so much done! I actually just took down and leveled our potager, I got a tractor with loader/backhoe for a month because I'm putting in the shed and greenhouse foundation myself so I know your pain at moving things around and those giant cakes of soil from the raised beds. It takes time to land on both the right layout and how you want to use the spaces. And based on all my floral experience, things always look worst before they come together or at least that's what I'm telling myself as I excavate ancient tree roots to try to put in a gravel pad! Enjoy the progress you've made xo

Good lord...you have worked so hard, I'm tired just thinking about it! It's beautiful and if I were you, I'd squeal too. It's really lovely. Couldn't get over the before, before pic. What an amazing difference. I feel like it's really coming together. I'm no expert, but I've been in my garden for 10 years now and I'm just learning to accept what can't be done here. I'm getting there. What is amazing is what beautiful spots people can make for themselves, no matter what. I don't think I could have an original thought if my life depended on it, so the videos that you and others make are so important to those of us who want to make theirs a better place (and who doesn't? I mean really). Thanks Laura. I don't know how you do it. 👏🏻

I have us the same kind of plans like Garden Answer does, each day for a different zone.etc. that is about the only way I get thing done, because I get so over whelm with things to do, I feel I should to it all in one day, not enough hours in a day to get things done, but with this way I know what side I will be working on that day and what I need to get done and if not it will be there the next time. I think you are doing a great job on your revamp, It is like starting for the first time, but you have a plan now what you want and do not want and the is great start. You’re really moving along! I’d make a sketch of that second boxwood rectangle, since the bed dimensions are different, to better visualize the look you’re going for. If it’s symmetry, would it be more pleasing to have it the same size with additional plants outside or have it bigger with more plants inside. Of course, I’d overthink it followed by “just get it done” then dig up and redo. Half of my plants are so confused as to where they are on any given day. 🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣 your last part gave me a good laugh. I thought, yes, yes, and yes that’s probably what I’ll do too. I actually just bought a ton of bobo hydrangeas to fill both sides. I don’t think I’ve ordered so many large plants before and it scared me. 🤣 my thinking is that I will have a ton of color and dahlias in the back greenhouse area, so nice crisp hydrangeas here with the green boxwoods would be a calming entry, I hope. And in spring for next year pack it out with tulips.
