OMG Mark this is so exciting......SEW Looking forward to your new NY Beauty......That was so awesome to see the quilting book that you chose your pattern from and how they have everything to work with.....and you are so funny as you talk about your set up process and the drawing of your templates. You know your analogy of how important it is to get focused on doing something creative and not dwelling goes for anyone too for what either happened in their life or what the are going thru now....and you really are a motivator and up lifter for life and mind, body and soul!! Both you and Yvonne are truly gifts from God and it's not mistake that anyone who watches your videos .... it is Gods Plan as he knows what we need and what's best for us!! You know too....that as a scrapper the patterns you chose and your ideas can be done on a layout too with paper piecing & adhering the pieces with adhesive or sewing.....so your videos for a multitude of reasons are a blessing to one and all even if it's to grab a Kuppa Kuppa sit back relax and enjoy because just because!! Thanks for all you do and the way you do it this is for both of you!! Wishing you both a Magnificent Monday!! YOU 2 SEW ROCK!! Joan Smith

Hey mark & Yvonne!! My paper piecing tip: the cheaper/thinner the paper-the easier it will be to rip off at the end. Try tracing pads, from kids arts and craft section of dollar store.
@jobabs

I use Art Pads from Dollar Tree: 30 pages in a pad, and very thin, easy to tear. I cut them to copy paper size and run them through my printer. It’s not traceable, but works great for printing the blocks I have saved in my files.

I have absolutely NO desire to make this quilt, but I'm anxiously waiting to see what you make! :) I love that you're encouraging men to get involved in quilting. My husband knows the basics of sewing, but just recently hijacked my small embroidery machine to learn how to make badges for himself. I think it's great, and it's amazing how fast he's taught himself how to create embroidery files and modify them for his own uses!

Good morning. Sitting here tonight watching your videos. I've enjoyed the interaction with you and your wife...lovely!! You mentioned the parchment paper. Have you considered going to your newspaper printing shop to ask for the end rolls of paper. The consistency is wonderful for quilting. I've used newspaper in the past and it works just like the pages in the old phone books. Just food for thought. Keep quilting and be blessed!

Great video, as usual! If you’re ever looking to make a circle curve, try raiding your kids’ math tools set (protractor,, compass, etc). I don’t have kids so I bought myself a set during back-to-school season. For the smaller circles anyways, it works like a charm. For larger circles, try a string, a strong pin, and a pencil to make your own compass! ~Diana K.

Long time lurker (I think I originally started watching you before you took a break) - but only recently decided to start speaking up on the channel. I know this is overdue, but I'm glad you're back! I'll be honest - I love FPP, but I'm still VERY new to this - and the idea of a FPP NY Beauty both inspires and intimidates me. I love the simpler FPP projects - just finished a small raindrop project last night - can't wait to get it on the longarm. Also: love the shirt! My dad's side of the family all retired from Ford. My dad worked on prototypes - last one he worked on before retirement was the '05 Mustang. :)

I've taught quilting for 35 years, off and on, so, I have a couple of hints. Newsprint works really well. You can use a q-tip to wet the paper along the seams, and it tears away like a dream. You can get large pads of it in the art supply aisle at Staples. Also, recommend plastic for templates that you use often. Cardboard will tend to get smaller as you trace around it. Old x-rays are a great source of free plastic.
@Blonders777
3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't newsprint be really dangerous with the ink coming off on your fabric. I wouldn't want to chance it. Esp when there's so many other clean even cheap tracing papers to use.
@annanderson6992

@@Blonders777 You can get pads of unprinted newsprint at art/office supply stores. It's the kind of paper that newspapers use.. not used newspapers..

Hello from NW Iowa! I'm so excited, I have wanted to do a QAL but I'm still kinda new in away. When I first started off a few years ago, my husband is the one who taught me. In 2011 I became disabled. I taught myself how to Crochet. Well I Crochet so much I burned myself out on it. That's when my husband said, I think you would like sewing. He had his own sewing machine so he taught me the basics. I was so giddy when I was able to make a quilt for our oldest grandson and grand daughter. Then I discovered MSQC and Jenni, OMG, I learned so much from her. I had to stop for awhile due to some "hurdles" with my health. I just got back into the swing of it a few weeks ago. Which is when I discovered your channel. I'm so super excited to do this. Paper piecing is something I have wanted to learn so your timing is perfect! Thank you both for making these videos, most importantly, thank you both for your service, it is greatly appreciated! Ya'll Crack me up. When you go into hobby lobby, I think of my husband and I. Lately he has had to make the trips for me since I am on a can only go out for Dr appointments status, lol TG for video chat and txt msgs. The quilt shops around here have gotten to know him pretty well, lol. God Bless. Can't wait to start this journey!
