I found this so comforting because you stayed calm even when "we" were saying no to basically every backpack. Usually parents get mad and say to make up our minds but you were understanding and kind about it which made me feel happy.

This is so wholesome, but, it reminds me of this kid who was in my fifth grade class. He was Korean and his friends would sometimes make fun of him because he was taller and bigger. He wasn’t fat but not skinny. So we were discussing Valentine’s Day cards for people to bring for the class, and he asked our teacher, (let’s call her Mrs. Smith) “Do we have to bring cards and gift for the class?” And Mrs. Smith said no. So then he said, “Good because my parents can’t afford it.” AND OMG I felt so bad and wanted to cry. He was a really kindhearted kid, and I just felt so bad, man.

I like that he's willing to listen to what his child wants. Most parents would take you to one store and say that you had to just accept what they could afford. The black Jansport is a good choice because all of the other kids are probably wearing cartoon or video game ones. You can always put pins or patches on it, like we did in the 80s 😁
