Hi Trish,I visited the caves of Mira d'Aire in 1976 ,I was 12years old!!Caves are made by nature. The Earths crust is made of tectonic plates which move against other plates and 1 result is an eartquake and another result is the birth of Caves. As the last major earthquake in Portugal was in 1755,I guess thats when the acces to these Caves was created by nature, and only discovered in the 20th century.Portugal is near the edge of 3 major tectonic plates the atlantic ,african and iberian plate meet beneath the ocean water. As you probably know, the Philipines lie near the so called Ring of Fire(vulcanos),perhaps the most sensitive and unstable region in the world and so does Japan,Indonesia and the Americas!!Great video!! that's why I love your videos, you go places where most foreigners don't go.Not many people know this place, but I guess by now every portuguese has visited this place at least 1 time!!Bye Tricia and see you next video!!Thanks!!
