Thanks again Bryan, i've felt a slight improvement already (didn't crack up before the end this time!). Hope the gigs go well this weekend.

I had a trumpet teacher out here in the PNW that advocated for long tones - so much so that he would wake up in the early mornings (5-6AM) and do his longtones up to High A so by the time it was 7AM, he was already playing in the stratosphere

Hello, Brian. Today was ok, the notes are getting steadier, I find it a lot more difficult to play them with air attack that with normal. At the end of the exercise on f# and G about halfway through the note I started closing down, so there is something to be aware of for the future. Thank you for your efforts to help us :)

I have a question to do with endurance while playing in the upper register. I can’t seem to find any videos explaining ways to effectively play the trumpet in the upper register for long periods of time without getting tired. If you could please give me your take on this I would really appreciate it! Love your videos

I'll get into it in more detail in a video but the short version is this: you need to figure out how to play the upper register without overexerting yourself - there is strength involved, but more in the way of a gymnast than a powerlifter. Once you strike that balance then you're able to play in the upper register without exhausting yourself, so you're able to do it for longer. Then you build endurance like that, rather than trying to go at 100% for long periods which is not sustainable.

It's much more about air usage than it is about chops.
