We have now discussed the Fourier series and how it shows up as a solution to the wave equation with certain boundary conditions. We also have seen how this can be generalized to the Fourier transform when we get rid of these special boundary conditions. Here, we will look at the Fourier transform more in-depth to see how it can be used as an important tool for solving difficult differential equations as well as finding some interesting relations that will be very useful for quantum mechanics.
