Beautful set! Sewing with solana actually said in the comments that she made a mistake in the skirt video. You’re supposed to measure your hips, divide in half and add 15cm so good thing you noticed before cutting your fabric ! 😄

Loved both sets, they really suit you. I also really loved how you styled them both so differently. It just shows how versatile twin sets can be, and even just using different fabrics for the exact same item can give them such a different style and feel. I'm chomping at the bit to make myself a twin set or two, but my body shape is a little awkward so I need to really be mindful about choosing the right patterns. You've definitely re-inspired me to get on that though! Great video :)

$20 for that pattern is ouch, but hopefully, you'll get loads of wear out of these sets - the pieces all looked great with the different styling options. Lovely fabric choices. Just adding 15cm to the waist measurement and hoping it'll fit over the hips is a strange approach - thank goodness you had the good sense and experience to question that and adapt accordingly.

I agree! I feel like I just need to make a bunch of these tops now. Haha Thank you!! And yes- I’m SO glad I measured hips! Everyone has such different proportions, I feel like the “add 15cm” only applies to a small fraction of people making this skirt! Thanks for watching! 💕

How did you add the lining? You sew it all the way up top, then fold over to make the elastic casing?
@madewithrach
2 ай бұрын
Hi! I serged the top edge of my lining piece, pinned it to the inside so it was slightly overlapping the waistband seam, and then top stitched it from the right side in the ditch! I’m sure that’s not the technical way to do it, but it worked! Haha

Love both sets!❤ even without the elastic 😍 I think you would have been ok with using Solana's measurements because in the video she says that for the pattern piece you use half your waist measurement plus 15 cms, that would mean overall you would add 30 cms because you're cutting 2 pieces. But obviously if you cut the material to fit over your hips then you know you'll be ok. I couldnt afford to spend $ 20 on a pattern such as this, but you've given me inspiration to try to self-draught something similar.❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@madewithrach

Oh thanks for pointing that out! I totally misunderstood! Glad I still measured though, because it’d be tight even with those measurements, and I’d still need to add extra for ease! 🙈 That totally makes more sense though, just still not for my particular body. I hope you end up loving the shirt you draft!! Thanks for watching!! 💕

When you sew with slinky fabric you can "stay stitch" around neckholes and armholes right after you cut the fabric. The stay stitching will hide in the seam allowance so you dont have to worry about it later. It definitely helps with fabric that likes to slide all over the place like rayon or silks. It keeps the edges from distorting as you work with it before you get the garment finished! 😊
