Spent a solid 2 hours today recreating this, i'm having an absolute blast! Only got into blender a couple weeks ago, your content is incredibly helpful - even the 10 minute challenges, because you do such a great job outlining your steps, granted i do have to pause and scrub back a couple seconds every couple seconds :D

If you decide to revisit the walk animation for this rig. Think of it as two alternating tripods. One lifts and advances while the other pushes back. Turning would just be stretching the stretching the opposite legs from the turn (pushing off to the side.)

1st things first - love your spiderbot. Looks great. Happy birthday to your wife. Your dive game looks great. Could you consider a 10 min build with a sub (maybe using the same technique as the dive game you did) or a seaport type of setup. Keep em coming and see you you next week.

a pretty useful hotkey i learned if you want to setup IK pretty fast is; in pose mode, click the IKTarget, next, click the arm/leg, or what ever object you're turning into IK. press ctrl+shift+c, this pops up the shortcut list for IK, if you press ctrl+shift+c+i(IK shortcut) it will automatically setup the first section of the IK, all you'll have to do is setup the pole target. Keep in mind, the bone you want to turn (IK)yellow is always the bone you click last. You'll also find other shortcuts for rotations and locations in the menu (ctrl+shift+c+r for rotations(as an example)). This makes things quite a bit faster once you've gotten used to the existence of this hotkey. I got this from Royal Skies LLC's rigging tutorials.

Hey @Imphenzia, another amazing video. I've recently found your channel and I am addicted right now! One note that you probably already know, but I've found recently. You can assign the vertices to Vertex Groups by using the "Vertex Groups" menu which can be found under "Object Data Properties" tab. There you can switch the active group and do the assignments with two quick clicks.

😀 Great tutorial, you explain things very well 😀👍 I do think, you made one "mistake" though. A mistake many animators make. When moving the legs, you just moved them a random distance. And the legs didn't move a equal distance, the front legs clearly move a longer distance than the other legs. This will result in the feed (in this case the ends of the legs) will slide around on the surface, when the spider walks. No matter if matching the move speed to front or back legs. I know, this spider is low poly and might only be seen at far, so the sliding feet might not matter at all in this case, but if seen walking close up, it will show clearly. Other that the random feet movement, I think, this were a great video 🙂👍

Amazing work, really appreciate you detailing the key presses. It's like watching a speed run of a game. Amazing to watch but not possible to follow or comprehend or copy. I have spent 5 hours alone just trying to get the bones to animate my model's leg...and still totally fail. Looks like the model is a child of the armature etc but the mesh does not move when the bone does. In fact I can even spend an hour totally unable to select the bone I want.
