When existing law unjustly punishes and permanently removes 2nd amendment rights for drinking & driving who is the injured party to question in court, who is the victim when all offenses are pull-over-and-blow arrests void of the accident, incident, victim, or injured party? (This law deny's Jurisprudence!) Michigan law says 3 DUIs in a lifetime creates a permanent non-reversible felony. These newly created (Mom & Dad) non-violent criminals are unable to hunt, and protect themselves, their wealth, or their family by firearm, ever! (A permanent felon!) The obscure law has a nexus with federal law and is based on imaginary death and destruction that drinking and driving often creates and does not discriminate between having a victim and victimless offenses. (There's no distinction in law between accidents or incidents having a victim vs simple pull-over and blow arrests!) When DUIs are victimless, without having an injured party the severity of punishment should never permanently remove 2nd amendment gun rights ... I believe this bill could get passed if properly presented because of the lack of distinction between the two classes (With Victim/Without Victim) offenses!

I'll say this in annoying caps lock so that it will hopefully catch the eye of someone who will pass along to others this absolute fact: *CONGRESS DOES NOT HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CONSTITUTIONAL POWER TO TAX, RESTRICT, OR BAN ANY FIREARM FROM THE WHOLE OF THE PEOPLE FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.* Congress is exercising a power that simply does not exist. For Congress to legitimately exercise this power, the Constitution MUST include such or similar language as "The Congress shall have Power to Tax, Restrict, or Ban whatever Arms it deems necessary." I have read and re-read Article 1, Section 8, countless times, and nowhere can I find anything even remotely resembling that. Even though the Constitution DOES explicitly grant Congress the power to Lay and Collect Taxes, it only allows Taxes to be lain and collected for the sole purpose of generating revenue, such as that derived from Personal and Corporate Income. The Constitution does NOT grant Congress the power to Tax anything for Prohibitive purposes, such as with an NFA Tax Stamp. These unenumerated powers can only be legitimately acquired through an Article 5 Amendment to the Constitution. But even then such power would come into direct conflict with the "Shall Not Be Infringed" Clause of the Second Amendment, a Clause which equally applies to the States. And then there's the fact that Congressional Democrats are openly defying a very recent Decision of the Supreme Court. The ink is barely dry on the NYSRPA v Bruen case, but Democrats couldn't care less. It's all one, big virtue signal to what few supporters remain. But it appears that Congressional Dems are far more delusional than that. They actually think that Gun Control is popular with the majority of voters (it isn't), and that passing a so-called "Assault Weapons" Ban will help Democrats remain in power after the Midterms (it won't). ... Let's just call the Democrat Party what it really is: the Pro Criminal Party. They have shown a consistent pattern of behavior that favors Law Breakers over the Law-Abiding; treats Illegal Immigrants with the utmost respect while treating Naturalized and Natural Born Citizens with contempt. And they treat the Constitution- the very Thing they swore an Oath to Preserve, Protect, and Defend- with defiant disregard... Until they need to use it as a prop for some political photo-op.

@@vincentsgaming what's even crazier is how the vulnerable ones are most severely impacted; the elderly or on their own. Most criminals are looking for victims, not a fight. And you are already at a disadvantage when someone attacks you because they get to choose the start time. And it's more than just an economic thing. The narrative that one particular party wants to push without even heeding a word of debate. "For your own good" is what they are saying. Yet the decision and policy makers have security details and protection some can't afford. And one step further, some pushing the heaviest restrictions (LA mayor) tell you not to have guns while they themselves have guns. I don't understand logic apparently.

Two points. First on Nadler's comment about hoe much more police are needed in progressive communities. That just proves that the people living in these progressive communities are more violent needing more police presence than the more peaceful conservative communities. Secondly, the other guys point that this would save the 270 lives taken by this one type of gun while many thousands are taken by hand guns in general. If the preferred weapon was not available to one of these violent shooters, they would simply use the one that is available. Thus adding those deaths to the larger category. No one is going to say "Oh well, if I can't use that gun I just won't do it." that is a ridiculous position.

Hey democrats…gun owners can’t have military grade rifles. The AR-15 is a Semi auto rifle, so you know you pull trigger 1 time and 1 bullet comes out. AR does not stand for assault rifle, assault rifle is a political term created by democrats and gun grabbing groups. I use the semi auto rifle for fun target shooting and I use it for home defense. The reason for 15 to 30 round mags is because there is a little law you don’t think about. If you remove mag and put a new 1 in it is considered a 2nd shooting or you had intent to kill home invaders. And I use plural because most break ins or home invasions have more than 1 perpetrator.

When someone's actions result in a forest fire, is our instinct to ban matches and lighters? No because fire is an essential part of our lives so we push for more education, awareness and try to improve the conditions/environment to prevent fires from spreading. We need to do the same with guns because they are just as important to our survival as fire.

The number of police officers has no bearing on the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms or on the Arms that the People have a Right to Keep and Bear. Over 400 police officers in Uvalde failed to protect the kids and teachers. One prepared and armed citizen was able to stop a shooter within 15 seconds, saving countless lives. Both scenarios seem to be repeating themselves. The choice is, given that nobody would ever want to be in a shooting situation, which scenario do you prefer? I'll go with the Citizens (including me) being armed and ready at all times and in all places. When bullets are moving at 1,300+ feet per second towards myself or any of my family or fellow citizens, I don't want to have to wait for anybody to arrive 10, 15, 20, or 70 minutes later to help and then "strategize" on whether or not it's safe or appropriate for them to become involved. I don't care if my neighbor has a million rounds of ammunition and a truckload of guns. I'm not going to threaten him or his family or property. I'm certainly not going to invade his house in the middle of the night or at any other time, ever. In fact, I would be a lot MORE comfortable if I knew for sure he was armed and had a significant amount training and experience. Armed Forces members and retirees looking for a nice place to live will find a very welcoming neighborhood here. Just think about how safe your neighborhood would be if at the entry there was a sign, "Well love all of the Special Ops guys in our neighborhood. Thanks for training us and keeping us safe."

I would want an AR-15 if I lived in an area where groups of thugs roam with their illegal guns and threaten my life, or my business. A hand gun with only 6 bullets might not be the best protection for your situation. It should be up to us what type of gun we buy.

You don’t infringe on the rights off tens of millions of Americans in an effort to theoretically try to stop a couple hundred murders that would be committed with a different gun even if they could stop someone from having it with their new law. Infringe on the rights of the majority of the population to say you tried to stop a couple hundred murders that wouldn’t have really been prevented. But disarming those law abiding Americans will absolutely result in the 2.5 million people per year who defend themselves using legal firearms to defend themselves from violent crime. Try to save 200 at the expense of 2.5 million. Because you’re scared of a gun you know absolutely nothing about. Yesterday you suddenly become a firearms and self defense expert and proclaim that nobody needs that gun t9 defend their home. How the hell would you know? You don’t have to worry about protecting yourself or your home behind the big gates on the hill….
