Spot on, I live in NYC, and I wouldn't leave my bike ever, no matter what type of lock it has. But when I'm trail riding upstate, a simple lock is all you need. Like you said, you secure things for the situation.

My comment vanished.... Try again: I totally agree 100% if the bike is next to you at a cafe. Not 100% sure if you nip into the shop to buy a bar of chocolate. A bike got nabbed from where I work just over a year ago. He had a chunky wire rope lock and the thief cut out in a few seconds and was off on the bike. It to a few seconds.

@@roysammons2445 it doesn't take long to nick anything to be fair. It's worth mentioning that I live in the sticks and crime is very low here as there aint many folks about. For that reason, I feel reasonably safe leaving my bike alone for a minute. 😎👍🏻
