For future videos of this kind. Could you show close ups of models as each unit is introduced?

I love that “reinforcements can come in on the sides” rule. I get so tired of every wargame being two armies smashing into each other with no flanking ever happening.

This game looks really good. I really like the mechanics. I'm just torn between this and Game of Thrones. The added side board mechanic plus the variety of factions and units is pretty appealing.

In another video, the devs made a point of how everything in the game is only as strong as what it's representing. The example they gave is how certain 100 kingdoms Individuals may be very impressive fighters, but they're not going to be able to kill a dragon on their own, like a hero in Warhammer might. But there still seems to be a weird dissonance between the lore and how units perform on the battlefield. In the lore, the Abomination couldn't even be stopped by the Steel Legion, who the humans thought would give them a chance. But in the game, the Abomination was felled just by Men-at-arms. I think that's good for gameplay reasons, but I wish the lore didn't describe the Abomination as being as unstoppable as it was.

It would have been nice to see the cavalry charge against the larger beasts, but overall the game seems pretty good. I think modern games need some kind of activation process like this to avoid the impact of a player getting the first turn. I wasn't quite sure about the automatic wounding, but I will know more we I see a few more bat reps. Cheers.

2DSick Wargaming well, two coming to mind immediately are Game of Thrones and runewars. Runewars having been out for a while. And there is always 9th age, the community created game based on Warhammer fantasy, which had a major revamp currently. All of those do something to differentiate themselves from the bog standard same old. This only seems to have put in a card activation and turned the required dice results from 4-6 to 1-3

@@Son0fAggression The selling point for me was the models as well as the unique rules. They're 38mm and the sculpts are all pretty amazing from what I've seen. And, considering they're such a young amd small company, their plastic kits are pretty good quality

Hmm. Not 100% sold on the not-comparing stats. I mean I understand this is the route GW has gone with AoS, but in single D6 systems, it means an extremely limited spread of options. You don't get the range of outcomes that 2D6 or D20 based systems have, and you don't get the diversity a toughness + armor system has.

I also hope the movement rules are actually a little bit more concise. I mean do units pop out the other side of friendly units they move through regardless of width? I mean 7 wouldn't have brought him through the abom, but it just "did".

So, if the stats are on the cards and the cards are face down in a stack I guess you still need printouts or books laying around to see your stats if a unit you haven't activated yet is defending. Seems more fiddly than innovative.

Not a fan of game systems that cause massive casualties each turn. I’d like a game where units will fight on for a few turns before one side becomes the victor.

meh, my local group is dropping Kings of War to go over to Conquest. We found Kings to be bland, but this one is hitting our marks in terms of rules, lore, and miniatures. I've demo'ed it and i was pleasantly surprised, mind you coming from someone who has played KoW extensively.

@tervindar507

Not sure how this game is coming off as generic, but offers more depth than Kings of War for example with the reinforcements, alternating activation and multiple actions per unit, IE: aim and then fire missiles.
@xDIABOx

Generic and bland. Rank-and-File can be the most intrinsic of miniatures games and these new companies tend to make their games pure bland RPS style with much to none detail on the movement aspect of the game. Just clash into the center and roll dice and that's it. Also, the gimmicks used in this... roll lower because all other games are designed to roll higher. And "put your cards into a pile and form your activation" is not much different from other systems like Armada or X-Wing with based values. It's 2018 and game designers are making new games that are worse than the old revamp of Warhammer Fantasy Battles 6th Edition.
