Great video Rick well done indeed. One correction for you at 5.33 in the video - the Z key blue readout is all brand new, coded by us OBD - it's not a left over from CFS3 which had something similar of course.

Pity! It would have been good to see you in a Camel or what upgrade plane your squad was going to next

Roger! It would have been Camels and fairly soon, too, if I remember correctly from the pilot creation screen. Oh well, ces't la guerre! We'll get 'em next time!

Its was quite impossible to hit a moving aircraft in real life but unfortunate that the AI hit you multiple times from over 1300 feet away especially when the likes of Mick Mannock in real life often stated to his pilots that you should always fire from within 50 yards (150 feet). I guess its the consequence of the limitations in the game to make it as realistic as possible but hopefully the AI will improve to be more realistic at some point. Shame good ol' 'Flighty' bought it and went West. Too bad ol' bean. We will remember him and avenge his death.

Agreed. I think what I am going to do before the next career is to do a complete reinstall of WOFF, which I haven't done in years(!!!). I'm wondering if the extreme shots and the "ghost gunner" hits I have been getting might be related to a bug...

Sometimes they did yes, enough lead flying your way, sometimes some will hit. You can adjust the rear gun accuracy in Workshops A.I. too by the way anyway. Aces would know to *make sure* and not waste ammo to always fire from under 50 yards as you can fill the view with engine and pilot and make sure. Often aircraft, as mentioned by Cecil Lewis would land with 30+ bullet holes. The pilot would had no idea they were even shot at or hit, and the ground crew would point them out for them ;). They just patched the holes and sent you out again. However of course sometimes it will hit, and the pilot will be unlucky. But you are wasting lots of ammo per hit when shooting 100s of feet away.

@@polovski1000 Point taken! It may still be worth looking at however as the new edition is shaping up. This is at least the third time in less than 50 missions that I have had to resign from the field with control surfaces damaged from fire at extreme distances and deflection angles. Maybe reduce the tendency to fire from more than 200 yards away or look at dispersion at that range. (Notice how many times I got hit in the mission replay from way out there!) Anyway, always looking forward to what you guys will do next, Pol!

@@rickrawlings6095 Unfortunately, there are many factors at play, including the balance of the sim, very difficult to adjust. The range of guns is set very low for observer too and doesn't seem to stop them, having a pop. So set the gunnery accuracy lower, as I say in workshops. AI is at a disadvantage to a well seasoned vet player with 100s or 1000s of hours honing long range shooting skills. Also imagine if no AI shot at you until they were 50 yards away, a half-decent player who is checking his six would see them on his tail for 2 minutes and avoid them. I think many pilots in real life (not aces as such) would take longer range pot shots - and hope to luck, especially if you're in a crappy 2-seater and there are a few enemies on your tail, and not care about wasting the ammo too much. You have to if you only have 1 drum of Lewis and have to stand up to reload, but they usually carry a few drums, and front gun Vickers /Spoandau with 500 / 1000 rounds... There are some values you can edit to try to alter accuracy - I'll send an email.
