I’m 67, growing up we lived in the country next to a farmer who grew watermelons. One summer we had 100 watermelons given to us. My mom diced and froze them and we had water melon slushes all summer. Usually we didn’t put anything in them unless it wasn’t a very sweet melon, in which case we added a little sugar or honey. Eventually, she added Carob and malted milk and sugar which I objected to; being a watermelon slushy purest I thought she should not adulterate them 🤣💖💖💖

Watermelon is also a natural sun screen when eaten. I can put coconut oil on and still not burn. Use discretion though. I eat a lot of watermelon in the summer. So I might be immune to the sun. Lime works well too. I like to put some lime juice on the cubes before they go in the freezer, then just add some salt when they're done and you have some crunchy cube snacks.

Thank you, finally someone else that's not that fond of watermelon. It's just ok to me, not something I like to buy. I've always preferred cantaloupe. Watermelon is suppose to be really good for you so I'll have to try this.

Seems cantaloupe isn't as good as it used to be either. Hard to get a good one that doesn't taste like it's not ripe enough!

Ooh yea that’s good stuff. We add Tajin seasoning to it. Really kicks it up a notch. Like one of those “you’re telling me for 40 years I been eating it without Tajin” kinda moments

I don’t like watermelon either, but I could see how this would be good. I have the unique ability to be able to taste things in my mind. It’s really handy as a baker. I know that sounds weird, but it’s true. The lemon and salt would definitely take that up a knotch. You want something really good, try just a tiny pinch of salt on cheese.

Do not cut on your stove top some glass tops are prone to breaking in a similar fashion to tempered glass. Be very careful!!

Cut melon into cubes, drain in fridge for a few hours, add crumbled feta cheese and condensed balsamic. Best summer salad. If you want to Michelin Star it up, add some avocado and some mozzarella cheese also.
