How did I miss this one?! I remember the goat days. Pygmies are my favorite, but they, like all goats, can be the dickens to deal with. I’m sure you don’t miss them at all!

Halarious I was laughing so hard. If you jus gave them some treats they probably would've came up to you. But I know the pain of trying to chase one that don't wanna be caught. Yes I know this was like 3 years ago. An I forgot how I found your channel. But I like watching.

I knew there was some reason I got rid of my goats. Now I remember why. I liked the part about only moving three in case they got out. I learned the hard way, brace poles on the outside of the fence. lol

Thanks Wormhole. You know the old saying, if a fence won’t hold water it won’t hold a goat! That’s just about true. So far the Hotwire is holding them but we’ll see for how long... thanks for watching!

Get a bucket of grain or kitchen scraps, whatever and teach them to follow you. A shepherds crook would also help a lot. Derek and Crystal of Blue Cactus Dairy Goats have one and the goats follow every where and the only time he uses it is when they know they want to catch them. Another good one is Weed 'em and Reap

What breed goats do you raise. Maybe go to registered breed for FFA students. Maybe offer a buy back depending on selling price. Or a simple contract you get the back. Let the students show you livestock and make it desirable. Of course let them buy for what your herd is bringing. Might take a while but it's an idea.
@farmertylerranch4399

The goats are pygmys. Not a bad idea, maybe when my daughter gets older we might go down that road. As for now the goats are mostly just for weed control.

Tyler I'm not trying to be bossy. I don't know how big FFA is in your area. The chapter at the only high school in my county. Spencer County , Kentucky is without doubt the best in the state. We've won National Dairy judging 5-6 times in last 8-10 years. Our other team are highly competitive too. The first good relationship supplier usually has ALL the kids buying from him. Her its pigs. Bobby Montegomery was a good guy but toward the end he charged about 130-140% of market price. Not a lot of pig farmers left and showing small animals is easy project. Have you daughter start chattery if you all like cats. They are rarer than boys selling dogs. If your already into goats and pigs get with the FFA advisor and see if shows are open to non registered. Then make your decision. Pick what you and your wife like so she grows up with it as part of her life. Even if it's only throwing two flakes of hay out when bigger and telling Dad when waterer doesn't work. FFA is one of the best classes for preparing kids for the real world. Sorry for the tangent. I get caught up in things I'm passionate about.
