2:24:31 should have attacked with the shark since it won’t die to the 1/3 and survives split up. This then allows for enchantment removal (last card in hand) to still leave you with a 5/7 and a 3/3 that will spawn 5 2/2s with reach

Hi Paul, don’t know if you read this and/or care, but the reason I scooped in G3 was because I was going to 5 on the play and I knew I would never win with 5 cards. Especially not against a very good opponent such as you. I was lucky enough to steal G1. It looked weird/salty, but it was just to save time.

Totally understandable. The worst thing in this tournament is to open an average pool and play for 4 hours only to get eliminated. Which more or less happened to me!

2:23:46 is quite the tough turn. Maybe saccing the doll there to make 5 2/2s and then bouncing the Unable to Scream to attack could've baited the Split Up? Tough call for sure.

15:07 I'm almost certain that your opponent just recognized who he was playing and reacting positively towards you. I think that's why he said Nice! and then Hello!

These qualifiers are tough/really frustrating. I qualified for day two with an amazing bant deck. My day two saw me leave with no wins, despite having what I thought was a great grixis deck with unholy annex, entity tracker, and sauna! I mulled to five twice with a couple zero land hands, and flooded one game drawing an impressive eight lands in a row off a five land keep. I don't know what is worse, losing with a bad pool or a great one.

Crazy, that guy drew split up all 3 games. Was rooting for you, maybe next time.

Yeah was unfortunate. The first game I think I may have had a sliver of hope. I didn't really think about my Paranormal Analyst in play and just randomly clicked quickly to make a ton of large creatures not thinking about Split Up. I could have returned more relevant spells to my hand sadly.

Kinda random comment but Toby feels juiced in red/white aggro. Turn 3 Toby into turn 4 Midnight Mayhem is noice. Gz on rank 1.

Hey Paul, great video. I ended up with the same record on day 1 with an interesting pool that had no great bombs but a good amount of different builds. I think last game popping the spiders was better than Onslaught since that would prompt a wrath. Since the doll was vulnerable to spot removal and it does count the +1/+1 counter for an extra 2/2.

Yeah I just didn't know it would trigger a split up but maybe it would. Regardless I'm gonna buy some copies of Split Up so that I can toss them into a bonfire later.

Hi Paul I saw Gr/U splashing black instead of White as it had an equal in removal but also some extra help above that. What are your thoughts on that configuration to your deck instead?

I didn't like the red enough. I think u/g/r was the correct build but I should have played the anthropede main and the get out as well.

At 2:11:30 paying attention to what you were drawing from onslaught might have won you that game through Split Up

Yeah I took a look at that. I think it would have been super close given how few cards I had left in my deck but I was kicking myself. Good catch.

He kinda sorta coaches us in each of his videos, providing tremendous analysis of each pick in a draft and the reasoning for his choices in sealed. I see what you're saying but I think he does a great job of coaching us to improve already. I very much appreciate you for that, Paul. ❤

1:19:16 I don't understand the line here. You have 7 mana and want to keep ramping when you don't need to. Even without the hindsight of what you manifest I feel like just playing Toby and a 5/4 is a much better play.
@haumph

The board was very messy so I didn't think I'd have great attacks so I just played the flier to try and manifest something nice while having a blocker for the Apparition. That wasn't even close to a turning point in the game so it didn't matter very much at all but sure.
