It's chestnut season! 🌰
While you can absolutely roast these in your oven, there's something special about cooking chestnuts outdoors in chilly weather.
Here's how to do it:
1. Get your charcoal nice and hot. 🔥
2. Place your cast iron pan over the coals and allow it to heat up for 5-7 minutes. 🍳
3. Score your chestnuts on one side. Don't skip this - they will explode! 💥
4. Cool the chestnuts on one side for 5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5-10 minutes. Bigger chestnuts take longer to cook. 🌰
5. Peel the shells off while the chestnuts are still warm, and serve with hot melted butter and salt. 🧈🧂
That's it! They're super easy to make and have a delicious sweet, nutty, popcorn-like flavour. 🍿
