It's like they are children that don't want to face a punishment/atone for being a bully. . . Nobody is going to out and do the shit they've been doing for all these years. It's not like learning any of it is carte blanche to go out and get revenge. I mean "their" legal system does all it can to protect them anyway. 😜😂😂😂 Brass tacks? It's the ones that still feel like everything in the past was okay, the ones that STILL feel the bigotry and hate towards everyone else deep down inside that don't want (ironically) this information put out through other people's eyes, but only want to remember the "romanticism" of when they were in control and it looked like they were the heroes and saviors to be preached in schools. They only want to see one side of the story and they want it to be the prettiest side told. They want to be held in high regard for the sacrifices that folks that believed like them held so long ago. They want to continue telling themselves their history in those Rose colored glasses and render everything else and everyone else's opinions or even lived experiences and horror stories irrelevant. You can't take down their monuments to those Glory Days. But you sure as shit can't teach what happened to the ALL lives those monument's subjects greatness is built upon. . .

@John Smith That wasn't my point at all. Does the government deliver your post, put out fires, arrest criminals, etc. No, it pays professionals to do that. Good quality teachers need to decide a national curriculum and the government should make sure it's the best people for the job but not tell them how to do it. Parents can and should teach stuff too but professionals and experts exist. Ignoring the benefit of their guidance doesn't make much sense. But some people don't like experts because their wealth of knowledge and experience is emasculating and intimidating.

But in learning Adam and Eve felt guilty. With these parents they don't want the opportunity for their kids to learn. They say they're worried about their kids being shamed but that's not what would happen. The kids might think their parents guilty for never acknowledging injustice against other people. A lot of people have different interpretations of biblical teaching. It makes no sense to me when so-called Christians behave in a way that Jesus wouldn't.

So, would they approve of The Green Mile instead, where a black man who appears to be God's "instrument" is put to death in the electric chsir? Because the death penalty for black people is good, but killing a creature of God is bad, right? /s 🤔 ( For what it's worth I am an atheist. It's unfortunate that nobody seems to be able to make a watchable movie out of a John Irving book. Most of the time you could say the same thing about a Stephen King work but the Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption are both very good movies in my opinion).
