93degs in Portland Oregon yesterday. I have ets front mount with a koyo n-rad. Cruising on the freeway at 70mph my coolant temps were 181degs. Fans are set to come on at 190degs The key to keeping them cool with a front mount is making sure you are running a undertray and everything between the intercooler and the rad is sealed to the air is forced to the rwd.

I built a v-mount for my car. I am working on ducting now. This is a track car. What design do you use for a flat bottom splitter. I feel like I have no choice but to let air escape to the bottom which goes against the principle of down force and will create some lift.

Just wondering, so the cooler breathing the hot air from the engine is better than having the cooler in front of the car breathing fresh cold air? 🤔 I would think that yeah v mount mounted inside the engine compartment is great but only if is watercooled because other wise there is no air hitting the cooler itself

It's always better to have the most amount of cold air possible to hit the radiator - The V-mounts he is talking about here is to allow both the intercooler and water cooler to get the most amount of cold air possible, because with the frontmounted (only) cooler, you don't yield air for both, simply because the first cooler takes up the air from the second cooler. Both need air to pass through, so if you have an cooler stored away (either behind something or next to the engine or something), it's not allowing it to do it's job and you will run hot. The biggest issue with alot of the v-mounts I have seen around, is that they effectively are run at an too aggressive angle and therefor stalls the wind (much like a wing can stall the air) and therefor the flow of air is slowed too much down - Effectively not cooling what it could. That's why you see that racecars and many performance cars/supercars/sportscars have air dams build in front and around the coolers and run the coolers at a tilt, but not at an too aggressive angle. But yes, when mounting coolers and pipes, you need to think about excess hot air (mostly from the engine), so that tubes or coolers don't heat up the coolant inside of them. Eg. if you run a water pipe going with the now cooled down water from the radiator, you can easily end up heating that water if you pass the pipes just under an exhaust or the manifold. Speaking of water. Water is good as coolant but keep in mind that it also holds heat for some time if it's not cooled down by air. So if you mount a radiator with water in it some place where it get's no air, the water will help cooling it a bit, but as the temperature rise, it will also follow the temperatures up until it starts to boil and go into damps instead, which only gives you pressure on the system where in most cases, running on damps is not suitable as cooling, so you'll blow a hose.

The solution for front mount is water/meth injection. It will run cooler.
