I enjoy your channel so much. Could you explain the application of lane tape or lane conditioning tape on the bowling lane some day?
@Atochabsh
Жыл бұрын
there is a machine that has "tape" at one end. The machine is applied to the lane and the tape ran across it. That tape is then put in a different machine that reads how much oil has been transferred to the tape horizontally across a lane. That reading creates a "graph" you see as a lane graph. The tape itself does look like slightly wide scotch tape.

Plain and simple, the lane machine failed to oil on 2 lanes... as something in it has not completely failed but failed enough not to work 100% of the time
@CriticalJ

I dont think it even completely failed, it appeared to me that it failed part way through. My first reaction when I saw GG's video was the the heads had SOME oil on them. I know she was throwing plastic but ive bowled on torched lanes with plastic and the ball WILL hook early still if there was no oil. However, it definitely looks like the last half or so of the pattern was definitely not there. This also would explain why the USBC Tapes at 15' didn't show any difference. The heads got oil, but something caused the machine to quit laying oil after around 15-20' It looks like some sort of malfunction, but who knows what it could have been.

@@NateandElise This is the problem I have with the USBC. Fining players for criticism, especially when clearly they WERE in the wrong to not properly address the issue is sickening. When an org has a rule in place that you cannot even question them publicly, there's a clear power trip there, and the fact that they attempted to gaslight everyone after the fact with their 'tapes" is just terrible. I mean come on, they didn't even have tapes for those lanes at 42' on the day in question, they can't possibly have made ANY conclusion that things were fine. At the very least, they should aknowledge that something was up, and just admit they aren't sure what happened. Transparency is lacking, and I wish we had a better way to enforce a shakeup in leadership, but the USBC clique isn't going anywhere soon sadly. No integrity at all. The irony is, in this video, you didn't even claim they did anything wrong outright, just questioned what happened and pointed out that the lanes were definitely different. I am not even sure per their own rules that that could even qualify for a fine, as you didn't actually 'badmouth" the USBC (I did for you in this post however lol). Absolutely bonkers.

You aren't allowed to publicly say anything negative towards the USBC or the bowling center. Claims should be handled privately and not publicly vented in order to avoid bringing negative light on the USBC. This is not my opinion but just how they have decided to handle things. I would like to see them be open, honest, and take criticism a bit better. They can take whatever direction they want but they will start losing bowlers if they continue down this path. The USBC is like a parent that doesn't want to admit that they have ever done anything wrong.

There are many other ways to handle it. The players don't have to support the usbc if they don't agree with them or they could form a players union because a group of people that refuse to support them will carry more power than people slowly trickling out. However, talking about it on KZitem to a community that most of us don't compete on that level or have any sort of power does absolutely nothing except make the sport look bad.

@@kevintate768 you are correct I have not bowled in anything other than local league play. I am surprised there isn’t a governing body present at official event where if questions arise, officials can in fact break out the tape, or pause play and have the lanes redone. They would also rule on other issues as they arise. I would eve think there should be a process prior to the tournament. Racks are checked for accuracy, lanes checked for defects etc. I don’t think that is to much to ask when people travel in from across the country to play. A simple process could have avoided all the uproar. Of that isn’t there, then I fortunately it falls to bowlers needing to adjust. It sucks since they made all their adjustments prior on different lanes.
