Hi Paul. I’m so glad to see you transfer an anthurium to water culture because I have a perfect candidate myself. I bought a small one which will have orange flowers when it’s mature enough (I guess). It’s still quite small so I hope it can handle the change. I’ll be following along with you and compare the progress of our plants. Thanks for introducing another interesting project.

I put mine into water culture and then transferred it into lava rock. It is much happier. I just want to add that I have transferred three pots of jade into larva rock. The pots sit in water as is usually done. It's been about a month and the plants have new growth. I'm thrilled.

That’s awesome. It’s amazing how lava rock works! Excited they’re doing well for you. 😃👍🏼

The nettings annoy the crap outta me. And they’re always on certain genera or species only… like Marantaceae, Araceae, Peperomia, etc. I just think it’s really obnoxious. Lol. Serves no purpose, never biodegrades, and even in plants with minimal root systems, like Peperomia, they seem to eventually be detrimental, long-term. What happened to the “biodegradable” Jiffy cups, or whatever they’re called?

Exactly. It can get annoying. They just live on for years without degrading. 🤷🏻♂️

I use an orchid fertilizer for most of my plants in WC and S/H. Bettergro orchid plus. I have an Amazon link in the description of the most recent videos. 😃👍🏼🌱

Hi Paul, i am newbie to plant. I just transfer from soil to water but since my water pot is small in size and due to my lack of knowledge, i trim off the root structure. Now i m worried if the root will grow back and thrive or i actually killing the plant. If it's the last, anything i can fix?

@@winnie5985 is this an anthurium? When I transferred mine, I just had to make sure the water was completely clean all the time. They do well in Leca and lava, which might be a little easier to transition. Let me know how it goes! 😃😃😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🪴🪴🪴

Hello there. Do you have your plant in water or in soil? In soil, that could mean too much water. In water, may need to check the roots, but let me know how you're growing it and we can see how to handle it. 🙂

Do you have any good information on plants that are bulbs or for instance I have a sweet potato vine that I've got from my mother's funeral and I want to continue to keep it but I'm dealing with the stinking fungus gnats. Do I just raise the bulb up over the water but have the roots drop down into the water?

That can work great. They just need a lot of sunlight to keep them going. Also, they’ll need some fertilizer. But it’s definitely possible.

Do you think that carnivorous plants will like water culture? A lot of them like swamp environment. Have you try it?

I haven’t tried carnivorous plants (yet) but that could be soon. I know some root well in water so they might do well. 👍🏼
