MONIQUE!!!!!!! So glad to wake up to your notif! I’ve started my first yr of OT and oh my goodness, I despise it so damn much. I want 2026 to hurry tf up lmao. Great vlog as always and I’ve missed that smile so much! 💙

Oooh why do you despise it? OT can be challenging but once you understand the foundation of it. You will be fine I know it’s a lot right now however give it time and take it a day at a time. Let me know what your struggling with.

@@OTMoniquethe teaching of the course is SO mundane at my uni. We’ve recently been doing creative writing and learning how to make collages. I understand that it is a form of therapy but I don’t learn anything from it. It genuinley feels like I’m at school. A few other people on my course feel the same way as me. Not only that, but the communication at school of health is embarassing. The tutors are rude too and have told me/other students “once we answer one question, we will not be repeating ourselves. So make sure to ask your peers”. Honestly, I regret choosing OT now. Had I known how relaxed this course is/doesn’t involve much academia (idk what OT is like as your uni), I would have NEVER bothered applying in the first place. The whole uni experience has killed my passion/interest for OT. This is what I’m currently feeling like anyway though. Placement starts in January so maybe I’ll have a different perspective.

@@Serena-Vanderwoodsen ooh I’m so sorry to hear this as teaching plays a big part to your journey and if your not enjoying it or even getting the feedback you need I can understand how challenging this may be to you and your peers. OT is a very seminar based cause with a lot of discussions and at the beginning I also struggled because OTs have this way of redirecting the questions back to you. Which you will find later plays a big part with your journey. It’s the whole they they are the enabling you and not giving you the answers which allows you to reason independently. My suggestion will be whatever you do in lecture is you don’t understand it mybe ask them to signpost you to literatures you can use, or look through the reading materials or podcasts, KZitem etc. form a group where you can all catch up and discuss what you don’t understand. Do you have a student rep? Mybe they can take all your concern to the OT lead? If majority of you are all unhappy you will have to speak up as your learning is being affected. Also you learn more on placement anyways so this is your opportunity to put the knowledge into practice ask as many questions as you can. It does get better I promise I too struggled and self educated myself the first year!
