As a London Cab driver of 20 years I have owned one of these vehicles LEVC for 4 years. This is my honest evaluation of this vehicle. Outside temp above 10oC the EV range will manage 55-65 (without AC or Heating running) Outside temp below 10oC with internal heating running EV range 25-40 approx. The colder the outside temp the lower the EV range figure. A lot of London Cabbies drive round in the winter months with cold passengers and ridiculous steamed up condensation drenched windows by not using climate heating to extend EV range. (Utter stupidity in my opinion). The FOR HIRE TAXI light looks constantly "For Hire" on a sunny day, not the best design and frustrating for passenger & driver. Range Extender grumbles & groans when in use, not the most refined engine noise but you have to consider it is a generator designed to add KWHs to the battery and keep you going in between charges so it needs to generate a lot of power, hence the noise sadly. Rear passenger doors need careful consideration on very windy days as they can fly open causing damage. Open with care. ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive Motor) is likely to fail at some point so having Warranty is an absolute must as this is a very expensive replacement, but I would recommend having Warranty at all times anyway with this vehicle as parts are very expensive. The rear passenger forward facing seats in my opinion are not deep enough, could have done with at least another two inches for comfort. The charging speed although advertised at 50KWH will only charge at maximum approx 45KWH but you have to also consider outside temperatures can affect this also + as the Charge goes above 70% capacity the speed is likely to drop to speeds of around 20-30KWH for the remainder of the charge. I think LEVC should be looking to improve charging speeds dramatically with this battery as time is money for working Taxi Drivers and it is certainly one of the slowest fast charging vehicles on the EV market. Suspension and Ride very good. Brake Pads will manage very high mileage if using Regen Assisted braking, as high as 50k+ miles in many cases which returns good cost savings.

They should improve on the battery range. Most electric cars go up to 280 miles on full charge. So I don't understand why the taxi battery has only 55 miles for a price of £20,000. I think it is a rip-off.

@@sabudjed1135 the range of the vehicle is linked to the gross unladen weight which is 2.3t. Most EV cars with longer ranges weigh 1.5t and below. Increasing the battery size would not significantly increase the range by much, it’s all down to the construction of the chassis and body of this vehicle. It is designed to be stronger and more resilient than standard EV vehicles therefore heavier and with a 1.5lt Volvo petrol engine to boot it is never truly classed as a pure EV vehicle, rather it is an Electric Rear Axel drive vehicle with a Range Extender.

@TotallyEV Hawwww de hawww I'm talking about national grids that have a hard enough time producing electricity in the first place, and even if they did, have nowhere to store it. I cannot believe that wind farms are actually getting paid to NOT produce any power. That just about sums up the total farce, that's before you even get started on the energy rip off that's now going on, by using every crisis and non crisis that can be thought of to raise prices. Very poor electric only range simply ticks the boxes for emissions laws, yet still manages to burn fossil fuel!? I’d be happier to see manufacturers concentrate on fully electricity efficiency rather than churn out hybrids. If only Tesla did a taxi…….? Oh wait…
