I'm loving this. The party is good, all characters are interesting and have engaging roleplay and strategic combat. The campaign is really nice. I've done similar things, and I think it's entirely a time saver. You can sometimes see the end of a fight rounds out, and all you're doing is rolling dice to make sure it isn't the one in a billion chance the party rolls natural ones 40 times in a row. To me, the amount of time it takes to evolve those roles is worth less then the party getting to move to the next roleplay moment, challenge, or puzzle. And it's not to say, it's because it doesn't matter. For my group, we try to play twice a month, and even that is hard for some of us. So it's about having the most fun for the limited time we're all sitting at the table.

I follow three of you folk as of right now and I really enjoyed this. Especially seeing Monty play, haven’t seen that much. Colby’s character intrigued me so…I rolled up a 20th level monk/bladesinger… The synergy was terrifying! I ran a few encounters for it fighting alone and the results were a bit staggering. First I through an adult black dragon, you know just to see. It was no contest. The character destroyed it…soundly. Secondly I took the same dragon and added a few Drow, cuz if you want to kill player characters…Drow. Two Drow Mages and one Priestess of Lolth. It took longer but the results were the same. The increased ST’s, mobility, potential AC and versatility in combat made it so that the character was nigh untouchable. So want to play this combo…wondering about level progression and effectiveness at low to mid tier play. I think some play testing shall commence.

I'll say the same thing here I said on Treantmonk's channel. I got the impression you were gently annoyed at some of the goofy table talk and I approve of your running in and starting sh*t. I identify with both these facts. That being said, I was mildly surprised by two things; damage from everyone didn't seem as high as I would have assumed from a bunch of level 20s and secondly some of the questions regarding things like the effects of telekenisis and eldritch blast from people who make KZitem channels about DnD seemed...odd. I approve of the MAD monk/bladesinger Colby, that takes stones!
@therandom58

I think Colby went out of his way to not make something incredibly powerful bc he knew that everyone else wouldn’t. Like the Paladin from Fryminis I can’t remember his name was using a sword and shield for example so I think he didn’t want to blatantly overshadow ppl. And I think the dungeon dudes focus a lot more on the rp aspect of things so I wouldn’t come down on them too hard for the telekinesis thing. It is kinda funny tho lol
@natashasurvivallady8021

Another thing to remember is the fact that yes, these people talk about DND professionally. That means they write out their scripts ahead of time, fact-checking their work as they do. Even with that, there are still hundreds of rules and interactions that constantly float around their heads.

Its easy to forget that nearly every table has their own homebrews and table rules, and what you assume isn't always the case. It was asked out loud at one point what healing potion rules were at this table, and I am fairly certain many tables rule telekinetic is a shove in any direction not just push or pull. Many other spells and rules get adjusted to fit the desires of the home table. And kelly, i think, is more a player than a DM and if you don't play a class much you don't always remember all of its rules. Not to mention nerves can rattle even the best.

Misty stepping through a Wall of Force!! ...Must be my head cannon, but I always thought the "Briefly surrounded by silvery mist" implied that when you 'bampfd', you were popping in and out of the ethereal plane - like nightcrawler. So the fact that the Wall of Force "extends into the Ethereal Plane, blocking ethereal travel through the wall." would block such movement. I'm not sure how I feel about a non-upcast 2nd level spell completely shutting down a 5th level spell that can't even be Dispelled and can only be destroyed by a Disintegrate spell. I'm sure there are more examples of this then I can think of (Higher level spells that can be negated by low level spells that aren't Counter/Dispel), but I'm basing this off of the Darkness spell. Where "If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of light created by a spell of 2nd level or lower, the spell that created the light is dispelled." So you can't just attack the darkness with the Light cantrip {a torch of Continual flame, Flame Blade, or Flaming Sphere}.
@natashasurvivallady8021
2 жыл бұрын
Darkness is actually a good spell to remember in this case. It specifically says those lower-level light sources are dispelled, where Wall of Force doesn't. DND 5e is a "specific overrules" system, which means you need to specify if you want something to supersede something else. And since Misty Step doesn't specifically say "you step through the Ethereal," it can dodge the Wall.
@AuthoritativeNewsNetwork

@@natashasurvivallady8021 Yeah, like I said must have just been head-cannon. And as was shown later with the Forcecage " If the creature tries to use teleportation or interplanar travel to leave the cage, it must first make a Charisma saving throw.", and that's a 7th level spell which also can't be dispelled.
