Rumbling stopped because Eren wanted to. Zeke just got himself killed because of guilt. As Ymir was free there was no more royal blood connection. Eren just stopped rumbling, so that his friends could be become heroes and people of eldia will be not hated anymore as people will think they stopped rumbling.

Thing is, if Ymir really wanted to, she couldve made killing Zeke mean absolutely nothing lol, she gave the founders power to Eren by choice, the connection to Zeke was no longer needed. Goes to show Eren probably stopped the rumbling by choice when he felt Zeke die.

I feel like Zeke might have the best ending of any AOT character. I was kinda afraid that the way they were going they were going to end up 'redeeming' Zeke but this was done perfectly. The difference between Zeke and the other Warriors, in my eyes, was always his motives and his methods. Reiner, for example was never really given a choice throughout his life. He HAD to choose between a bad choice or a worse one. Everything he did, he did so he and the other warriors could get back to their homes. Even still, his guilt over his actions made him literally want to kill himself. In his case, I'm satisfied that he was redeemed, and that he got a (somewhat) happy ending. Zeke though, he was fucked up. People often forget that he had to TURN HIS PARENTS OVER to become Titans as a child, in order to survive. Though he hides it well behind his obvious intelligence, his childhood had already unhinged him, to some extent. This led to him to come to see people as insects, sacrifices in the grand scheme of his plan, not entirely disregarded, but not given too much thought either. He was even capable of enjoying his enemies get eaten alive (see Mike). With all this in mind, I'm so happy that in the end, his character developed significantly, but stuck to its guns. He finally admits that there may be more to life than just reproduction and death, but still believes that ultimately, his plan was the right one. Even in his final moments, he doesn't say something stupid and out of character like "I deserve what's coming to me after all the people I've killed" he says something along the lines of "I suppose I can't really expect any better after all the killing I've done." It's a subtle difference, but it shows how while he still doesn't regret killing all those people, a man of his intelligence can't really ignore the obvious consequences that would entail. Such a perfect send-off to one of my favourite characters in the show.
@jello7380
10 ай бұрын
Yeah he definitely started to have a "grander than life" view of the world, so him as you said "sticking to his guns" and believing that his plan was ultimately the safest, easiest, and the logically correct choice, is not only in character but entirely correct, as a third party viewer of the show, the characters simply not being able to reproduce seems like the kindest ending for them as a spectator. Despite him knowing he's right on a multitude of levels, he can for once at least SEE the simplicity and beauty of the world around him, claiming if only he had seen it sooner.

it's strange. i don't think he thought everything through about the paths stuff. why is zeke the only one in the paths who grew a beard, longer hair, etc. and got physically older as he was fake-chained-to-the-ground waiting for Ereh in the paths. that is just dumb. everyone else is timelessly trapped in time, agelessly experiencing time but zeke gets a beard? okay. whatever. that's just a surface issue with it but an easy example of how he didnt think everything through. i heard he was really beat down by the workload and years of doing AOT/SNK by that point and kind of just was on autopilot and depressed with his life towards the end of making the comicbooks.
