Not gonna lie. The only thing that really made me cry in this episode was seeing Levi cry. He has held it in for so long. He was numb. Showing him crying was just… I don’t know. I can’t explain it. But it was beautiful
@Ch4rlz_ThA_Princ3
11 ай бұрын
The part where Armin acknowledged that hes doomed to hell for the evil he took part of and desperately lept to hug Eren for comfort as he both accepted he truly deserved that punishment but also was scared and sad to know that hell is where he would have to spend eternity in... that part made me leak a pretty solid tear. It hits differently when you're a theist AND a recovered addict who has already spent years on earth's version of hell. I truly wouldn't wish that magnitude of suffering on even the most evil of people. If solely due to knowing exactly what that kind of darkness does to your soul. And the magnitude of hopelessness, never-ending agony, and despair that literally consumes you to the point of eventually starting to accept that suffering has effectively become the only thing to expect, every morning you wake up and are conscious again. Idk. It also gave me a flashback to the scene where Berthold and Reiner are trying to escape with Eren, and Mikasa inadvertently provokes Berthold into finally replying in absolute tears when she claimed it was THEIR choice to commit all these heinous mass murders. "No, you're wrong! Who chooses to be this way? TELL ME!!!! What do you think I am, huh!? What? You think this is what we aspire to be?!! People loathe us. And why wouldn't they? We're monsters. We deserve to die for the things we've done... We're lost...We could live a thousand years and never again know peace...Try to imagine that darkness! The only light was our brief time as soldiers! It was never an act! Do you understand? We're not who we said we were, but it wasn't an act! We genuinely thought of you as our friends! I'm not stupid... I know I have no right to ask forgiveness... But PLEASE...I beg of you... If we were comrades...someone find us!" That quote was permanently ingrained into my head when i first heard him. Because when he said "Try to imagine that darkness", i immediately thought about how absolutely lost and stuck in a seemingly impossible situation, unable to stop popping pills and snorting lines of smack, which i no longer even enjoyed and wanted to stop altogether because it stopped being fun so long ago and had taken over my entire life so completely that every day was centered around making enough money to stave off the withdrawals for as long as time allowed. I absolutely loathed being that way, but was absolutely powerless to stop and was also pushing people away through my actions, even though i desperately needed help, deep down knew i wanted it, but also felt i didnt deserve to be helped. THAT was truly hell. And THAT was what I remembered every detail of, when Berthold, eyes welled up with tears, said "Try to imagine that darkness!" I literally did as he asked. And the idea of Berthold suffering even MORE than I did, and the way he described "being lost"... it just prompted my own eyes to start welling up and my throat began to knot up. I like to think of myself as a pretty strong pragmatist and exceptionally stoic person. I even score "high risk" in the narcissism assessment test, "moderate risk" in Psychopathy, and "high risk", in Machiavelianism But it seems I actually do have a capacity for empathy. I guess it only comes out when i view someone who might actually truly know the level of suffering a person has to go through to even become so emotionally calloused as I low key wish i didn't have to be.

It's the point where I broke down too. I was tearing up earlier, especially with the Eren and Armin scene but this broke me.. Levi did so much and held so much in....finally breaking down and crying after losing his whole squad in the first season, Hanges squad that he knew well in the third season, the majority of the Survey Corps in the latter part of that season and....after losing Sasha and especially Hange in season 4 he locked himself off the most, almost moreso than losing Farlan and Isebel a decade ago and locking himself away.....It hit hard seeing him finally break down, but like you said, it was beautiful. He kept living for all of them and never forgot them, and even for the first time did the salute. They gave their hearts to wipe the world from Titans and in the end, in a very odd circumstance, it happened. Levi was the only of them to experience a world without Titans and that is a beautiful thing.

Captain freaking Levi. Can we all just appreciate the role this man played from beginning to end? He grew up in a slum filled underground, stealing and trying to survive. Lost his mother at an early age, but was eventually acknowledged and mentored by both his long lost uncle and his soon to be commander. He was given a chance to make a difference in the world, take on titans and fight for humanity. From that point forward, he has lost friend after friend after friend but still kept his cool due to his position and what was at stake. He had been hurting inside for so long but he still kept fighting. He still kept moving forward. And even when all was said and done, even when he had to help take the life of a young man who he probably saw himself in, he had finally reached a point where he could rest and be content with the fact that he gave his heart for humanity. This story was just as much as about Levi as it was about the Shinganshina trio. Long live the strongest soldier.

This scene was so awesome! The survey corps basically just did it. They accomplished what it seems to be an impossible task. After all the mysteries, after all the deaths of comrades, after all the suffering. They finally accomplished the mission. Definitely the best troupe in anime history.

It’s really subtle and poignant that the Survey Corps through their shared experiences and camaraderie have formed their exclusive landscape woven from the Paths. The name given to said landscape is not utopia. But if their world had a shape it would look like the Wings of Freedom.

@@bunchberry9957 i actually kind of agree...MAPPA is well known for it's hype scenes. And it's really good doing action sequences. But when it comes to emotional and heart wrenching scenes, WIT wins by a mile. There's just something about the way they use lighting/animation and music that it quickly becomes a tear jerker... i'm 100% sure if WIT did this scene, it'll be complete siltent until levi sees his comrades and start off with soft piano and continue with one of very much loved songs in the fandom to send the series off.

0:21 You can see it zooms into hanges arm (she’s the only one with a white sleeve) I think it’s them showing how whenever Levi placed his hand over her heart instead of his own when he said dedicate your heart it’s Hange placing her hand over her heart giving her heart to him or whatever (why would it zoom onto hanges arm if it had no hidden meaning?) also in the manga Erwin wasn’t in the center it was Hange in the middle but in this scene they did zoom Levi’s focus to Hange in the middle which is nice..!

I've never been emotional over sad scenes in movies/tv shows, AOT is no exception that is until this scene shows up where I finally shed a tear and the tear just kept falling. Levi has been through so much and it's good he finally fulfilled his promise and can finally retire and rest. Oh, I forgot about the crackhead trio reunion ( I missed Sasha so much) I didn't cry over her death unfortunately because I know she'll die, yet after seeing that scene of jean and connie seeing her even though I read that scene from the manga, I freaking bawlled like a fountain. I think for me their bittersweet reunion is more painful than sasha's death ( don't come at me pls).

Asli, sad banget 😢

So long have we waited... But honestly, even if we would have to wait even 10 years more (yeah, an AoT reference), I would be okay with it, cuz I am just happy that I didn't miss, and could live in the same time, the same century, the same decade, as this Masterpiece was in production and was being published - but mainly, I'm happy that I could experience it, quite lively. My greatest appreciation to Hajime Isayama, his editors; the WIT Studio and MAPPA Studio alike; and all the people that were in the production, of the anime, the manga, but also the fanfictions and light-novels; and also, to the community, cuz, what a journey it was!

Rewatching the series currently and it hits you in the feels how many wonderful characters we say goodbye to that tug our hearts. Ymir, Hannes, Sasha, Erwin, Hanje, Berthold, Eren, then by the many years later technically every character is gone. In a world of tragic lives and characters everything about poor Eren and his loved ones is tragic. Everything from Levi crying to Eren and Armin, Mikasa, the music wow… it was worth the wait.
