Oh my god your command of the brush to put those spots down is so good. Very well done. When I was theorizing paint/color schemes for my Tyranids I DID just get a picture of them in a photo editor and spray-paint colors on the picture to more easily imagine how it would look irl. I THINK it helped. Not totally sure.

Man, I love this paint scheme. It's so great the way you vary placement on each of the models, but create that unified look throughout with the controlled pallette. Don't know the names of all the Tyranids I'm afraid, but Mr Big Butt Vine Mouth is looking ex-cel-lent!

Liking the vibrant colours and contrast. Will definitely stand out on the battlefield. Only suggestion i would make is to use an actual primer, rather than standard acrylic pain. Vallejo has a good range of airbrush primers called Surface Primer in a range of colours, which will add more tooth and adherence for the later coats.
@melsminiloft

I... never really realized there was a distinction between the paints in terms of priming 😅 I thought it was just the term. I will for sure look for primers in the future. Thank you!

Awesome job and I love the theme choice! Was cool to hear your thoughts using the Gaahleri products! I recently picked up a GHAD-39 on another youtuber's recommendation but had never heard of the brand or anyone else really talking about them. Been saving up a generic $100 compressor since I don't own one but I am going to seriously think about getting the one you used instead!
@melsminiloft
11 ай бұрын
Thank you! Honestly for the price point, it was a really good airbrush and compressor kit. The whole compressor fit in the palm of my hand and it was really quiet, its great for people with small workspaces! I haven't tried their dual compressor one yet but so far I am very happy with their stuff.

Hello. Keep up the good work! 2 things. 1st. do not listen to those who tells you to base your minis before painting. that is just the worst idea. all the stuff what you put on the base just in the way of your brush. its like you making your life harder for no reason. i usually never put any of the models on the base just right afeter i finihshed the painting. i super glue them on or bluetack them on old paint cup or wine plugs. when im done with the painting i do the base separatly. and when the base is done, i glue the modell on to it. lot easier. also if you batch painting is a lot faster to do the bases togeather with no mini glued on . 2nd. you have a biiiiig gap on the screamingkiller all the way at the joints. use putty/filler or just a normal plastic glue. plastic glue melts the plastic and fills the gaps. have a good hobby time! keep it up!!
@melsminiloft
10 ай бұрын
gosh I know the big gap feels so bad! I didn't know what I was doing when I started assembling these guys. My Tyranid Prime has an even worse one unfortunately. I still need to learn how to patch up gaps, the next army I work on I will for sure. Thank you for the tips! I have never really painted a mini that wasn't on the base first but that's probably a better idea haha.

When it comes to airbrush + compressor, what other bits n bobs would you suggest well worth grabbing too?

I definitely recommend a paint pot, where you can put the airbrush in and remove any excess paint and some airbrush cleaner! I don't think I would be doing as well without those two main things. Good luck if you start out airbrushing!
