My dad recently bought me a second-hand Lexmoto Assault EFI 20-reg bike, with only 400 miles on the clock, for my first bike. This bike had only 1 previous owner, and had been serviced before I'd picked it up. After getting the bike home, and putting 100 miles on the clock, the bike started to get stuck in 3rd while riding, and would no longer go into neutral unless the engine was off, or the bike was on the center stand. After looking up these symptoms online in an attempt to fix the issue, I adjusted the slack on the clutch cable, bought and installed a new clutch plate system, and adjusted the slack on the chain, but this made no difference. I called up the local lexmoto dealership, explained the symptoms, and they didn't want to know. They simply said "Yeah, they are known to have monkey engines". I asked if they would try to fix it, and they replied with "Sorry, our mechanics are away at the moment, and we only work on bikes that we have suplied ourselves". As you can imagine, this was immensely frustrating. In a final ditch effort to fix this problem and make the bike rideable again, I purchased an engine that had been stripped from a seperate Lexmoto Assault EFI 125. This engine had 4000 miles, and the issue wasn't fixed. Needless to say, FUCK lexmoto, and FUCK their shitty bikes.

I have had mine for 5years now had no problem with the dealer side of it-I understand that it comes with warranty but you need to keep the service up or warranty runs out if you do the service your self. They do need all parts ie screws etc checking/tightening from new and good check around the bike. The tanks are pretty crap for rusting and speed,rev,fuel cables will not read properly after a couple of years but apart from that there genuinely ok for the money.

I get the impression that if you buy a Lexmoto, strip it down, replace bearings, tyres, re route wires, make sure things are waterproofed, replace the rubbish bolts with some good ones then you get a decent bike. If this was a car there'd be a recall as petrol leaking on a hot cylinder is a serious risk.

Brought mine new in 2017, never had this issue. The fuel sender was broke from day one however, the dealer had taken it out to check it so maybe doing that helped. I never bothered getting a new sender fitted as the tank is massive and has a resevere anyway. In 3 years of year round never once washed use, and 10k of running a 72cc top end it's been great. Yeah this is true about the Lexmoto Warranty, it only covers the 1st owners time with the bike and no further, I bought a brand new scooter and the carburettor had a fault, it was difficult to start from cold, but no bother the dealership replaced the carb free of charge. It is a bit surprising though that a bike that’s only done 35 miles should have a fuel leak, but faults can happen like on my scooter. I kept the scooter serviced by the dealer until I sold it back a few months later having done nearly a thousand trouble free miles. It isn’t right about the warranty no but a company can do what they want after all they made the bikes. Best thing to do before buying any bike or car from a dealer, is check that in writing the bike does come with a warranty, and what is covered by the warranty cos warranty providers are often as slippery as insurance providers, they’ll use any loophole that’s in their favour to avoid paying out.

Unfortunately Lexmoto can only provide the cheapest bikes on the market by selling them on a non-transferable warranty. A bit of research before purchase might have saved some frustration. As for the unavailability of parts, my guess would be that certain components are only really made available for the production line, and the only overstock they do are for more commonly replaced user-serviceable parts, so this doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with any given component. Wait a while and production will catch up. There's no shortage of Lexmoto service partners in the UK, so the easiest solution is to find your nearest one and ask for a lead time on the component, and meantime get a cheap runner while waiting. Also, I'd speak to the previous owner, and ask about that gasket, as something seems fishy.

Thanks for the comments I dint agree just as the bikes are made cheaply they should not last. Not everyone can afford to by a cheap run around when I have just bought a bike with only 35 miles on. The warranty is in regards to to the bike not the owner and so should transfer for its entirity .
@HomerSparkle

@@docsworld9707 A warranty is a legal contract with a person, not a product, and by law does not have to be transferable. A transfer of warranty is something that may be done purely at the discretion of the manufacturer. Again, under UK law, your contact is with the seller, not the manufacturer. In this case the seller is private, not trade, and therefore you lose most of the protections afforded under consumer rights. A private seller's only obligation under the law is to provide goods "as described". If the seller didn't tell you about a fault, then you need to pursue that private seller for redress. It has absolutely nothing to do with the manufacturer at that point. You keep emphasising the point that this bike had done "only 35 miles", but the fact is that, as a private sale, you have no way of proving the truthfulness of the seller's claims, whether the odometer has been tampered with, or whether he's attempted a botched repair or modification. At the very least, I find it extremely suspicious that someone would sell a perfectly functioning bike after "only 35 miles". In any case, your only legal contract is with the seller, not the manufacturer, so you need to pursue the matter with whoever you actually bought it from. Please feel free to confirm all this with your solicitor, who will only tell you the same thing.

@@docsworld9707 On the contrary, I would say that @Homer is quite well informed. Lexmoto offer low-cost motorcycles and for this to happen, something has to be compromised. If they kept vast amounts of spares then they would have to pass the cost on to the customer. An entire production line can go down for the sake of a £5 component, resulting in dozens of hourly employees standing around with nothing to do. It's the way it is. Spend a *lot* more on a brand new, big name motorcycle and you'll have nothing to whine about.

Gunna be abit of a long message I do apologise, I have a lexmoto fmx 125cc since I bought it off the first owner there where some problems with it which I didnt know cause the lad lied to my face and said there's nothing wrong with it but as I looked at the fairing some of the plastics was holding on by tie wraps but I needed it for work and to see my son so I took it and thought I can replace the plastics later on, but any ways when I got on road I had noticed it was hard to start up and evin when I slowed down ped would cut out so did some research and figured I needed to sort tappets out so I did ped was fine after that started up first time and didn't cut out as I was slowing down, so next problem was check engine light came on and I figured as it was flashing it was telling me a code and that code tells me what's wrong with it, turned out I needed a new lambda sensor so I replaced old 1 for the new 1 but had to go to a garage for them to reset it and it was fine after that, so last but not least and this is the main thing I was getting upto which is my exuast pipe had snapped clean in half where cylinder head is inhad to buy some quick steel as a temporary fix cause I was trying to buy a standard exuast pipe system for my ped but the site kepted saying out of stock for months and I evin requested a notification to say they had some in stock but I got tired of waiting and had to buy an after market exuast pipe in 2 parts first was the down pipe then the next time I got paid was the muffler which was compatible for my ped which took piss but I am happy with it, they need to start and stock up more and often, I could of been off the road for a long time

so why didn't you use a walking stick rubber on your tank, till the part was back in stock. CMPO are great, usually 1-2 weeks if a part is out of stock. In stock parts in your hand in 24-48 hours. I have 3 China bikes in family and they are great if you look after them. Lack of use for your bike, old petrol corroding the gasket??.

My lexmoto came for £300 with 1000 miles. In truth nothing wrong with it except for some strange reason its had 3 attempted thefts. Yep not good. Twice ignition ripped out. Not good. Ball ache because apart from £70 odd quid to replace ignition and tank lock plus seat lock, you have to change the parts over. Never gets nicked though because always take the battery in. Kickstart cant turn it over fast enough so the alternator can make enough power to keep it running with no battery. Having removed the tank and after drilling out the tank lock and not before removing the sender unit to drain the fuel, upon reassembly after airline to blow out metal particles, I too wonder if that seal will last. Might be worth gasket sealant before filling up with fuel to find second time round it leaks.
