The country's westernmost glacier, Ålfotbreen, is located on the Atlantic coast of Norway. Over the years, due to the warm and humid climate, he completely disappeared high in the mountains. By the way, this is where the most precipitation falls in Norway.
Also, these places are considered not popular with tourists, due to difficult accessibility, bad weather, and remoteness from the main routes and attractions.
But the mountains here are uniquely shaped and called Ålfotbreen Shelves (Ålfotbreen Hyllene) with such a landscape and geology you will not find anywhere else in Norway. Therefore, the mountains around the Ålfotbreen glacier are planned to be made a new national park.
We tried many times to plan a trip to the Norwegian region of Kinn and admire the quaint "Ålfotbreen Shelves", but almost always on the weekend it was raining or strong winds were blowing.
We love shooting our videos in sunny weather, but thick clouds, haze, and occasional sun rays are the best we were able to catch on this trip. So take cloudy weather as part of the rugged charm of these majestic and unusual mountains.
We will start our journey with a flight over the Brudesløret waterfall, which in Norwegian means bride's veil. The waterfall descends with a roar and grace into Lake Haukåvatnet.
The lake is a 25-minute drive from Norway's westernmost city, Florø. By the way, we also managed to take a walk there, and if you are interested in visiting Florø with us, use this link to the video:

Further along the Fv614 road, we either climbed higher into the mountains or descended to the ocean level. We passed picturesque fjords on the banks of which tiny villages were comfortably located and admired the stepped form of the mountains of the Kinn region.
But only having made the ascent to Lake Svelgsvatnet, we fully got what we came for. Insanely huge and incredibly eye-catching mountains in the form of shelves Ålfotbreen.
We didn’t want to leave here, we wanted to walk and climb as high as possible to see everything more fully since the scale of the panorama around us is truly phenomenal!
But suddenly the clouds thickened and it began to rain, which was not in the weather forecast. But we weren't surprised at all, because it rains about 5,600 mm a year.
At the same height, a strong wind began to blow. And it is precisely because of the prevalence of such weather in the Kinn region that large windmill parks have been built to generate electricity. All these weather factors forced us to descend into the valley.
By the way, the western coast of Norway is also known for its salmon farms. And we just got to one of the farms located in Nesfjorden at the time of feeding the fish. It's a spectacular sight as the water boils with vigorously jumping salmon and the seagulls try to break through the protective nets. And it all takes place against the backdrop of the stepped mountains of the Hinn region.
Today we invite you to ride with us on the Fv614 road around the high, unique, and impregnable mountains of the Ålfotbreen glacier. Believe us, this is a very unusual, harsh, and at the same time bright Norway, which not many have seen.
We really hope you enjoy the video! We tried our best! Feel free to ask your questions and write wishes in the comments, we are always pleased to read them!;)
Thank you for traveling with us!
