Since this video there have been a ton of updates to both the TV and the game consoles (I'm only aware of the Xbox Series X). Do not use the console in PC mode for 4:4:4 chroma, it's negligible for the naked eye and not worth the loss of a few features. The Xbox will recognize movies and TV and change to a cinema setting for the TV. You can turn VRR to gaming only in the Xbox Settings as well. I then adjusted settings for SDR gaming, HDR gaming, and Dolby Vision Gaming. Then HDR cinema and Dolby Vision cinema. SDR gaming - I keep it brighter, close to 150 nits settings and use BFI. HDR gaming - I use around 120 nits settings, and VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode. Both consoles are AMD based hardware. Dolby Vision - Use out of the box settings, VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode. HDR Cinema - Same 120 nits settings, BFI and motion interpolation to be easier on the eyes and smooth the 24 fps. Dolby Cinema - Out of box settings, BFI and motion interpolation as well.

Hi, I live in US and in dilemma to choose between Sony A80J and LG C1. A80J is $400 more than C1. I am just a movie lover and not a gamer at all. I am going to put my TV in my living room which is not too bright and not too dark. I like watching movies by switching on the lights while my kids love to watch in dark. 1) Is it really worth to push my budget $400 more ? That means, the picture/video quality in C1 is not good and I definitely need to choose A80J or the quality difference is minimal? 2) Can I achieve the same picture/video quality with these settings? 3) As a movie lover, what do I need to do get the best picture/video quality so that I don't need to spend $400 extra and I don't miss much? TIA.

Just got the 55” version for my room yesterday, through Amazon. Said a little prayer that my TV wouldn’t be mistreated as it was delivered and the Lord listened and my TV came here pristine. :) This TV is absolutely insane. I had a Vizio D55-U1 (I think that’s it’s name) which was a great TV for my needs, which are primarily gaming. That Vizio was the very first 4K TV I ever purchased and it impressed me a lot when I first used it and first experienced 4K. The best thing though? Had a super low input lag for gaming AND games, even PS5 ones, looked pretty great on it. This LG though….my word. Right out of the box, the TV picture was exceedingly clean, crisp and beautiful. I tweaked it a bit per instructions from Rtings and it still looks phenomenal. When you play a game on ps5 or whatever, though, you shouldn’t need to change many settings which is crazy. I actually haven’t touched my gaming settings because Elden Ring looks amazing on mine right now. One thing my vizio did not have was HDR. That was some that, at the time, “I couldn’t care less about”. I remember myself saying that. Now I know what I’ve been missing. I have to go back and play Horizon and Dying Light 2, again because HDR is absolutely insane. Makes the game so lifelike having actual shadows casted in such clarity and what-not. If you’re on the fence about getting this TV and you can afford it, I suggest you buy it. I thought 4K was 4K and it didn’t matter, nah. A 4K LED vs a 4K OLED isn’t even a fair fight. The OLED is so clean it looks like a picture.

Back here again because somehow I've become obsessed with industry standards lol. Not that I need 100% accuracy on my film and game material but I like to know exactly how the different settings on high end tvs are actually intended and not just taking their label at face value. So I always lean to a 2.2 gamma target as well. I always thought this was a default target for any tv or monitor but it seems for accuracy sake that using BT.1886 is the proper gamma for when watching film material. This tracks close to 2.4 gamma on oleds. I can see it's intended application through the default filmmaker mode settings for example. But it does seem to struggle with showing detail unless you're in a perfectly blacked out room. Seems to be lots of debate online about whether it is the proper standard to use for most content over 2.2. But I guess if you're watching tv in a normal environment with some ambient light then you don't necessarily want to going for 100% accuracy anyway.

picked up the 48 inch C1 yesterday at BEST BUY for 1299$ on sale..added a 300$ 5 year Geek Squad warranty also...the HDR 4k UHD content is mind blowing, but most content i watch is not in that kind of resolution - 65% of what i watch is probably TV shows broadcast in SDR or maybe full HD - and for that kind of content, my Sony 900F or probably a Samsung qn90a would look sharper - which is kind of a bummer - and YES i have seen the GRID EFFECT on many white scenes - or kind of like moving lines in "lower resolution content." - i put lower res content in quotes because even content filmed in 4K will appear kinda washed out (my sony 900f looks sharper with this kind of content) unless the highest resolution is used, in which case that's where the TV really shines..i also haven't played with the calibration yet, so maybe it will look even better once i do...i just wonder if the qn90a would look better than the c1 for the 65% of SDR/HD content i watch on Discovery Plus APP or Pluto TV news..

I've bought B1 as there was a deal (30% cheaper than C1) and pretty happy with it. The max achievable brightness seems fine but I really have to push it to the max as the room has plenty of natural light.

I can’t seem to make “Apply to All Inputs” work. Take HDMI3 and HDMI4 for example. I configure both ports identically using the same picture profile and deep color setting. Starting with HDMI3 I configure the picture settings the way I want for SDR content. One setting for example is OLED brightness. I set it to 50. Finally I click on “Apply to All Inputs. Then I go to HDMI4 which is using the same picture profile and expect to find OLED brightness is now 50. But it’s still the default value of 60. It didn’t change. Don’t know what I could be doing wrong. Thoughts?

We're getting our 65" TV delivered today, I'm guessing that these settings will apply to the C2 as well. Once I get into the settings I'm sure it will become more clear. Thanks for the info 👍

I can't seem to get the expert mode picture option. I'm trying to set it up for my apple 4k tv. What should i be disabling to get this option? I just see cinema, vivid, standard, and gaming. I was able to get the expert picture option when at the LG screen but when I switch to the HDMI port with the apple tv its nowhere to be found.

This TV in my opinion IS a little dim in all modes, once I find the time I will go back through this and re-calibrate. Is there any easy way to set this up? I saw AI auto-brightness, maybe I'll try this out. It's a nice TV but on the dimmer side for sure.

2) Can I achieve the same picture/video quality with your suggested settings? 3) As a movie lover, what do I need to do get the best picture/video quality so that I don't need to spend $400 extra and I don't miss much? TIA.

Hello! So for most people, we expect the C1 to be a great option. The A80J is really more for people that want the better picture quality, no matter the cost. The ideal room for an OLED TV is as dark as possible, but it still should be okay in a moderately lit room. Between that and our suggested settings, you should have an amazing experience with the C1!

Helped some family members pick out a TV recently, got them to go for the 65". I ended up going back and buying the 55" for my own home a few days after. I have a question though, using isf dark room, when I run an sdr black level pattern, with your settings, I cannot see all flashing blocks from 17-25, I'd say I can't see 17,18 & 19. Should I raise the brightness slightly? I'm hesitant too as everyone suggests leaving it at 50.

I prefer 55-60 for screen brightness for most TV shows and movies. I don't like it when you can't see what's in the dark areas of an image or faces have too much shadow.

I just got a C1 2021 model and im struggling with A LOT of noise, especially in dark scenes. Overall, the resolution doesn't look right either. Im not sure if there is something wrong with the TV, but it might be that cuz i´ve watched a ton of videos and nothing seems to help. I´ve done most of the testing using the new Obi Wan series streamed on an Apple TV 4k

For sports, the only thing you may want to adjust is the motion settings. These are more subjective though, so you should really play around with them to find what you like the most!

If all you’re doing is displaying a pure black image, then it should be fine. You could technically set the brightness to max but if you just have a pure black inage on screen, it shouldn’t cause any issues!

I just purchased the 77" C1 an have it connected to my Yamaha RX-A850 Receiver. All my inputs go to the receiver before going to the LG C1. I use a Fire Cube connected to the Receiver to run all my aps, HBO, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, etc. The PlayStation is also connected to my receiver. Only one HDMI goes to the screen from the receiver. With all connections going through the receiver, what would be the best video settings?

So I haven't got a new TV in over 8 years and was thinking this one, are we saying I have to change all these setting for everything I watch every time I change the channel? I go from a movie to TV show and I have to change the settings? SDR to hidef and have to go into menu everytime?
@MrStroodle
3 жыл бұрын
Certainly not. You specify settings once and they save on that input. When that input changes to say… HDR from standard, you can select new settings and those will save for when it is in HdR, but as soon as the HdR content is gone, the TV aill automatically swap back to standard and the previously set settings will come back and vice versa

My stupid Samsung TV forces you to manually switch back and forth between HDR and SDR. Does this have an auto setting where it detects what you're watching without having to adjust anything? Does the Sony A80J have that?
