@Joseph Goh according to reviews it's great. I regret not getting a C1 instead of a TCL 6 R635. SDR is great but HDR is terrible mostly. My next TV will definitely be OLED. Obviously in a purist mode the OLED Product is king but if you prefer a brighter picture with a tolerance for pure black levels the Nano TV is still a great product in my opinion. Good review. Very close to each other. Obviously the OLED is better. So it comes to this for me. Ask yourself a question. Actually, two questions if you're looking to buy. First, how long do you anticipate keeping your TV? And second, what are your viewing habits? The reason why I ask is OLED, without exception, suffers from one problem. It's a problem that will only manifest over time. I'll bet you (the reader of this), or the person who created this video, know immediately what I'm about to say. Burn-in. I have had an LG 65" OLED for several years, and it has been used quite extensively. Films, video's, local TV channels, Cable, the usual. I suspect pretty much like any other person does. Also weather, sports and business channels (CNBC/Bloomberg, etc.). The TV has been exceptional. But it is now showing burn-in of static images from some of the channels. This is after ~4years of fairly heavy use. Once you have burn-in it never goes away, only gets worse. I had originally hoped to get at least a decade out of the TV. Don't you when buying? It won't go the decade. I suspect nano-cell, etc., which is comparable in function, will. So since I'm not anally excessive about visual quality, and can deal with LED-type limitations, I'll probably go with a non-OLED product, and look to keep that product for a decade or longer. Unless, of course, manufacturers find a way to overcome this issue. And by the way...as a gamer and equally heavy PC user OLED monitors sound good in theory. I know the industry is starting to promulgate them to their customer community. But my experience makes them my very last choice in PC monitors and the like. If you think my TV usage is heavy then you've no idea how heavy I use my PC-hardware and machinery. Especially these days what with working from home. John~ American Net'Zen

On the one hand you have professional reviewers and enthusiasts who focus a lot on raw numbers and benchmarks and "MUH PERFECT BLACKS!!", and then you have laggard customers who upgraded from a 720p Samsung from 2007, and would think even the cheapest budget 4k is amazing. Having said this, notice that if you look at listings for the Nano90 (like Best Buy or Amazon or something), notice that while most pro reviewers portray this TV as mediocre at best, the vast majority of (verified) customers rate 4-5 stars out of 5. Frankly, I see why. I put this tv through its paces, and honestly, I think the image is fantastic! While the fully array dimming isn't perfect, I put on a bunch of HDR 4k content, and it handled it incredibly well for an LED panel. The only time blooming was really apparent was either with some overly compressed/aliased youtube videos, and moving my mouse cursor over a black object in certain picture modes. In all other cases, the blooming was minimal, to almost non existent. When it comes to video games (which is one of the main reasons to get this particular screen) it looked even more stellar. Even the Nintendo Switch, which gamers know isn't the most powerful and high resolution machine ever, looked beautiful, and with low input lag, I felt even more "connected" to it. I personally wanted a "theater replacement" that had a great picture to look at, futureproofed for high-refresh gaming, while also not spending anywhere near $4000+ for a machine. For MY purposes, it works exceedingly well. For you, it might not. Either way, (and I know others have said this), you NEED to see these TVs in real life to decide what you want to get. More specifically, you need to ask the employees at the store to show you normal real world content being displayed in different modes on them. Best Buy staff will do that for you if you ask them to.

Thanks for the write-up. I'm still trying to decide between the Nano90 86" vs the C1 77" for my living room home theater (sometimes dark room, sometimes light, sitting 10 feet away). All these in-depth reviews make me want the OLED, but I feel like deep down I want the immersion of the bigger screen. Glad to hear you don't regret your purchase!

@@RossNygren You are most welcome. It's eight months later and I still don't regret it. Based on your description of the living room, it's roughly the same as my setup, so your results should be similar to mine if you get the Nano90. I looked at Best Buy and there's still about a thousand dollar difference between it and the C1 77", so if you think that size matters to you even a little bit, the question comes down to whether or not perfect blacks by itself is worth an extra grand.
@RossNygren

@@Ashton-san Woof, I know it. Perfect blacks or plus 9 inches and a grand in my pocket... I know which way I'm leaning (the latter), but I think a bit more quality time at Best Buy, like you say, is in order to feel good about the purchase.

The Nano90 may have poor contrast and black levels compared to the CX but it does seem brighter and provides more shadow detail. The CX just like most OLED TVs was a bit dim, has a green tint to the image and crushed blacks at 1:54 and 9:02. There is no perfect TV at the moment.

@@hdtvtest Perhaps you're correct about that but I have seen LCD and OLED TVs side-by-side in person and compared certain scenes from movies and LCD TVs tend to provide more shadow detail most of the time than OLED. I have owned this 65" Led Tv for a Year now. Your are spot on with these comparison. I still have a 55 LG Plasma, that's still going strong. I wanted the Oled, but my wife will leave the TV on all day on news channels and I was worried about burn in, at the time. It is Great for colors and bright pictures. LG does not talk about Back Light Zones. And I can see why. When we go to watch a show on Apple Tv. The Logo alone will bloom the whole Tv in the Middle. If I had to guess this TV only has maybe 12-to 24 Back light zones. As far as everything else, it works great. I bought this for a $1,000 at Best Buy. If I want to watch a really dark show. I just go watch the Plasma.

First of all, really thanks to all the great videos. I have been watch your videos extensively recently and wanted your advice. Considering everything and price, would you go for a 55" CX or 65" nano cell? Mostly for Netflix and ps5. Or any other alternatives for CX? I'm really tempted for a 65" CX but was wondering if there are any other non OLED TVs out there which will almost match CX but being much cheaper. Is it really worth almost double the price vs non OLED?

I saw the demo TVs in the store and the OLEDs looked great...until you get to the ones that have been there for a few months. Then you start to see reddish whites and pixel degradation. Then you get your $4000 TV and watch highly compressed Netflix and get artifacts anyways. It's amazing how people compare OLED vs. LED TVs...it's like trashing a station wagon for not hitting 0-60 in 3 seconds like a sports car. You can only compare LED TVs with other LED TVs...apples and oranges seem to be the mainstay of HDTV websites and channels. All he's doing here is showing you the differences between the TECH ("Station wagons suck at acceleration, seen here as our Ferrari blows it out of the water.") What I'd like to see is a well-used OLED, several years old, competing against an LED LCD TV. Then we might see something different.

It won't burn in. Those comments are for morons. The burn in was solved in 2017. The humans that can't afford it and are jealous leave those comments. I have 4 OLEDs. Samsung also likes to spread this rumor because LG controls the OLED market. Almost all OLEDs are manufacturers by LG. Now price is a different story. The IPS NANO90 is half the price with zero advantages (really). The only advantage is price. You can have about the NANO90 86 inch for the price of the CX 65". I'd still choose the CX and maybe an UST 4K Projector for 150" screens. (Pricey) If size only matters, as Vincent says, go with the 86 incher. ALL of SAMSUNG is transitioning to QD-OLED. I guess they love that burn in that doesn't exist anymore. They did that for marketing and marking up their garbage QLEDs for 5 years or so. They screwed consumers. Even the name QLED is a disgrace to confuse consumers. It will all be OLED in the next 5 years.
