You should receive a Nobel Prize for this, HardworkandtheTruth! Thank you for solving this for all who suffer from the LG "Smart" buzzer. FYI my top freezer refrigerator model LTCS20220 has a much smaller (3x3 inch) housing on top of the unit (front right) with the same blue buzzer and the same wiring harness plugged into the same orange receptacle. I really wanted to use a hammer for this job, but thank you for showing me the more civilized solution.

It's unbelievable how they didn't add an option to turn it off. Not to mention that this warning system is really absurd, how many people are going to leave the door open and forget about it vs keep it open because they're actually using the fridge and yet they have to deal with the beeps knowing damn well that yes, the door is open??!

Thanks so much for this hack. Its unbelievable to me that with all the options and extras available on these new fridges, they still don't trust you to close your own damn door without being bullied into it. When I get home from the grocery store late at night or want to make a middle of the night snack, I would have to repeatedly close and reopen the door before that piercing noise breaks the silence and wakes my daughter. I asked my Dad if he knew of any way to fix it, he said it wasn't possible. He's gonna be so stoked, we're always joking about taking a sledgehammer to it. And the video was short and to the point. A lot of content producers out there need to work on their editing skills, but not this guy. Thanks again!!!!

Thank you!!!!! We have been traumatized by incessant useless beeping periodically since our LG was only a year old. Our owners manual claims the beep cannot be disabled. However, thanks to your video, although our model is different from yours, I found a small panel on top of the fridge, unscrewed it, and low and behold, there was a blue beeper just like yours. We only had the LH cable, but I disconnected it, and then cautiously experimented by opening the door to remove some food, and then I waited . . . no beeps! My son, especially, could not tune out the warning beeps at their 30 sec. intervals (just far enough apart to not be construed by the brain as "white noise") and he was about to drive the rest of us insane along with him. And, as someone else pointed out, your explanation to just unplug the cable negated my need for Plan B, which was a hammer! Meanwhile, the poor fridge door has more than its fair share of dents, since kicking the door on the lower right, about a foot above the floor, has been the only occasionally successful method of stopping the beeps in the past. Bless you!

Awesome! Thanks for figuring that out and why did it take me so long to find your solution online? Does anyone - even one person - like this feature? Did focus groups or product development teams at LG come back saying - please make sure that you can never turn off the door alarm - even when you are loading bags worth of groceries or cleaning out the fridge or deciding what snack to eat - because people love to hear a beeping sound every minute. So relaxing. Really a $3000 fridge that beeps every minute forever and can’t be turned off!?!?? Seriously? Unplugging the wired plugs was much more difficult for me though. I found it easier to remove the entire small board with the alarm in it, then unclip the white plugs and then clip the board back in. Forever grateful! Will think of you every time my fridge is open and is completely silent :)

Unfortunately this didn’t work with our LG model. We did managed to stop the beeping by removing the panel above the electronic display on the door, this gives you access to remove the whole panel. At the top is a small connector, turn the power off to fridge first and disconnect the wires. On the back of the circuit board is the door alarm, we popped off the alarm cover which made the connection causing the beeping. Now reconnect the wires and return the panel into the door. Now turn the power back on and hopefully your beeping has stopped like ours did. Hope this helps 😊.

First thanks! So after 2 years have you noticed anything else affected by unplugging that? I just got an LG refrigerator and spend OVER 1 hr on the phone with them. No resolution. They had me under that cap and they ID'd a different connection, it was wrong. So I unplugged both of the connections on that buzzer board determined the same plug as you worked in shutting it off. But I didn't leave it unplugged because I didn't know if it would affect anything else. Then I found your video and felt better about my observation.

Yes I have!!! Alright, so there is still a speaker in the top right of the right hand door that does nothing. They must have updated it without removing the old part. However, there is a second one behind the ice maker screen! If you pop that front panel off then you can just pull that speaker right off the board and then like magic it’s fixed! The panel popped right off and back on for me. Also I have had 0 problems since removing it. However, it did get rid of the button beeps too but that was a small price to pay for me. Hopefully this helps! I found it deep in a service manual. Also, it will seem like the screen will break when trying to pry it off because I don’t think it was meant to ever come off again. I am pretty sure I broke a tab. However it did pop back on and sits flush like it never happened.

For anyone still searching for a solution after this method was unsuccessful… just to the left of where the guy in the video is unplugging the cords there is another long computer chip. On that computer chip on the right hand side there is a small round speaker covered in a black housing. The housing is approximately the size of a nickel(USD) and about .25inch thick. Grab that housing and pull it off. It comes off very easily and the speaker will pop off with the cover. The speaker can NOT be reattached so If you plan on restoring it you’ll have to buy a new speaker housing or know how to solder the speaker wires back together.

Thank you for posting this. The only other guides I could find were to press some sort of Alarm/Lock button that my lower-end model does not have. Though this pointed me in the right direction, it didn't solve the problem. After locating the "Smart Buzzer" board, and disconnecting the connector, to my horror I heard the beeping once again! It was coming from yet another buzzer attached to the front circuit board. What is that "Smart Buzzer" even for? I then attempted to disconnect the two magnetic sensors from the door. No help. Then I tried taping magnets to the sensors after removing them from the housing. The latter worked, but this "smart" refrigerator uses those sensors to turn on the refrigerator light! So I can't just disable the door sensors. I think I'll see if I can disable the front buzzer like someone else has mentioned, or desolder it.

Great video! Hey,..did you unplug the fridge before doing that or is that not necessarily required for this task? I'm assuming my LFXS26973S model has a similar looking wire connection and buzzer even though mine has just a small housing that is placed over a smaller portion of the left and right doors and not a long housing that runs all the way across like yours. I'm assuming the right housing is the one on my model that hides the buzzer since that also is the side that has the wifi icon nearest to it.

Great solution. Much appreciated. Our annoying beeping is gone. Question though - after removing the offending part, it appears that we have lost ice making capability. Looking at the troubleshooting section of the manual, it says that ice won't be dispensed if a door (including the refrigerator) is left open. Has anyone else lost ice making capability as a result of this solution, and if so, what is the fix?
