The Lhasa Apso. She’s a fine looking little thing with a rich history. An independent character, she can be quite stubborn, but give her plenty of exercise and she’ll happily enter into a bit of rough and tumble before she has her nap on your lap.
Striking looks / Independent / Happiest when exercised / Playful and relaxed.
An excellent watchdog, she is vocal enough to let you know of any trouble, but she’s not a barker per se. She makes a great companion, is a perfect ‘partner in crime’ and loves an adventure. Not big on strangers, she won’t be guarding the house too enthusiastically, that’s for sure!
Good watchdog / Great ally / Adventurous / Watcher not a guarder
She takes a bit of work to keep that coat looking so glamorous and it will probably want a good brushing every other day. This heavily furnished girl does make a great dog for apartments or flats, as the luscious coat doesn’t tend to malt so much. Despite this cuddly exterior, she’s quite a toughie and not to be underestimated!
High maintenance coat / Suits apartments / Minimal malting / Tough nut
Interesting facts: This little dog first came to Europe as presents from the Dalai Lama, and originates from the Monasteries of Tibet. It is said that the souls of Lamas enter the bodies of this cheeky little dog when they pop-it, which is why they were such trusted guards.
First introduced as presents / From Tibet / Reincarnated Lamas
