Its not his own technique, he chose to low kick the kickboxing style. This style of low kick is good because you can come back with hands right after. Kickboxing vs muay thai type ish right here

That’s the Japanese style of throwing them. Broadly speaking, there’s the Thai style, the Dutch style and the Japanese style of throwing low kicks.

You are right, but I would argue his way is Dutch. The Thai's keep the narrow stance and turn all the way over, both the Dutch and the Japanese don't turn over too much, but the Dutch keep a narrow stance similiar to Thai's whereas the Japanese generally keep a wider stance

@@khuzytheartistee The Dutch have theirs based on transitioning from a boxing attack to a fully committed power low kick. The Japanese have theirs based on speed and either transitioning from or to a boxing attack. The Thais are primarily kick or leg focused in stance and stay that way. All attacks are fully committed to though.

It’s funny because when I first started training MT I didn’t have the hip mobility to turn over kicks properly so this was my style by default. The coaches hated it😅 My noob kick is now in style. Noice.

Speed is power ,I taught this technique lond time ago I refer to it ,and works off front and back the 45 degree strike using the shin as a bat not as a sharp strike ,the greatest advantage to that kick is it also pulls the opponents muscle which is nasty ribs are worse

Why do the Thais always do some kind of display when they are scored on. It seems really obvious "look you didn't hurt me" gestures are almost always responses to *you definitely caught me* moments.

It’s none of the responses above. It’s because - a) betting is a massive part of Thai boxing. People, including the fighters, bet. Totally unlike western sport and betting b) scoring in Muay Thai considers not just shots thrown/ landed but also the aggression and the impact a shot has on the opponent Watch how each fighter holds their hands high after each round. Even if they took a pummelling. Same thing
@3stools518

You can also see fighters point at the other one when they land a good shot. It’s a “look I’ve hurt him” tactic. To influence the gamblers and the judges
