A master piper for sure, but let’s not forget the likes of Paddy Keenan and Cillian Vallely. Of course there were the old pipers like Seamus Ennis, Leo Rowesome, Tommy Reck, Willie Clancy and many others. Liam OFlynn deserves a lot of credit for fostering the music and encouraging others.

I first saw/heard him play this tone on a "Pure Drop" episode. It is or recently was on KZitem but I'm not finding it now. The particular program host was a fiddler, possibly Paddy Glackin.

this is a wind-up?the hornpipes in the title refer to the type of tune being played (Hornpipe: dance tune in 4/4 time)I'm aware the instrument is called the UILLEANN (most commonly spelt with double LL) pipes.I'm also aware of, and have seen, Liam O Flynn playing several times and met once a few years ago at the Cultra Pipers Tional.and the next time I drive down to Dublin I'll probably call in again to Na Píobairí Uilleann (one i two ll) in Henrietta Street and see how they are all keeping.

I don't gloat at blowing your hornpipe Slugger, but this traditional Irish instrument is called THE ÚILEANN PIPES - 'úileann' being the gaeilge for 'elbow', and so self explanatory. Liam Óg O'Floinn is a true master of what, for me, is the most movingly mind-blowing musical instrument in existence. If you're ever in Ireland check out Na Piiobairí Úileann @ Parnell Square, Dublin.

The word is spelled Uilleann and not Úileann and you should at least be able to spell Amhránaíocht if you want to use an irish word. Your Irish spellings are more like Scotts Gallic that Irish Gaelic

On a point of information the type of tunes in this set on the Uilleann Pipes are called Hornpipes !
