Liao Hui attempts to snatch WR, sets C&J and Total World Record for a crushing victory. Snatch 154, 160, 166x WR attempt CJ 184, 198 WR, - Total 358kg WR
The double knee bend is there. It's not something I would want to try and who knows how much it really helped him. Andre "The Oscillator" Aramnau on the other hand ...

the 198 was amazing! i don´t understand why this is a new record in the total though. boevski lifted 162,5+196,5=359 in 2000 olympics!

@tldevilsh Not if you lift as heavy as these guys. Moderate weight will strengthen the joints and ligaments, but it will wear them out a lot quicker. So in the long run, you'll worsen them.

@tldevilsh No, not every known athlete in the world does steroids. Not even all professional weight lifters do steroids. Get that through your head.

@ChinaNite89 sure there are other countries doing the same thing, using professional athletes to lend prestige to their army. But it's a ridiculous and manipulative practice. Note the passion and mania of the commentator when he said Liao is from PLA; the patriotic fervor and the message are obviously meant to imply PLA has badass soldiers. I just don't like false advertising.

@csaweightlifting Good observation, BUT if u say like this, all the records and champions in the past have to be removed,Obviously, this is your bias, if u watch all World Record or competition videos, there are a lot of movements violate the rules

@tldevilsh Figurative speech is the use of metaphors for ones point; you used extensive hyperbole for that point, which is not the same. Even the point you're trying to make is extreme. I don't live in a dream world. I know some athletes (like Liao Hui) have taken steroids and been caught, but to even exaggerate that all athletes take them is absurd.
@ChinaNite89

@jchien He's an athlete representing and probably sponsored by the PLA team in National competitions and even some singers hold military ranks such as Shuangjiang Li who is a "Major General". If I remembered correctly, even Pyrros Dimas holds a military rank in the Greek army.

@csaweightlifting my thought is that when you are good enough to lift enough weight to even make the bar slightly bend or coach an athlete competing against athletes that make the bar bend and may be at a disadvantage you can then try to drag down the achievements of one of the best lifters on the planet. Until then just accept Liao Hui is one badass dude regardless of some minuscule premature knee bend.

@tldevilsh Any movement of joints will wear them out. The amount of weights these guys lift will strengthen them, but wear out faster. Everything in moderation ;)

@csaweightlifting Yes but IWF rule 2.9 clearly states that if you immediately perform a backflip after a deliberate oscillation of the barbell, the lift is valid.

@csaweightlifting liao easily wins the biggest badassery that day by having the highest sinclair ratio lifted with a WR as well, and for the rule that you mentioned, that only specifically applies to lifters that deliberately bend their knees to oscillate the bar, if the body is stiff and motionless, the bar can oscillate as much as it naturally does before the jerk
@klbo08

@csaweightlifting I think it seems he slightly unlocks and relocks his knees in order to get a rhythm going. This may be more of a habit than technique a to get the bar oscillating since the Chinese are more or less trained to have the same technique.

Thanks for posting this video, it is by far the clearest and sharpest quality video of Liao Hui i have seen. Very nice. As for oscillation. I was taught at a young age: Losers go home with excuses, (or in case rule books) Winners go home and fock the prom queen. and i'll bet Mr. Hui is doin just fine in that department.

@tldevilsh ....because 1) steroids are primarily used for recovery (unlike other PED such as HGH which serve as growth); many athletes don't need it the same way weightlifters do and 2) the amount of athletes not in contention for medals but who still compete at an elite level is staggering. Most of these individuals likely either have flaws in the technical approach or don't take steroids. Hell, in the US athletes can be tested anytime, at any competition. Cycling is incredibly difficult.

@tldevilsh not all accomplishments are achieved through cheating. show some respect for others. if all you do is talk down on what others achieve then you will never accomplish anything. well, just my 2 cent, maybe you do C&J more than him.
