Liberec Region is located in the northern part of Bohemia and borders Germany and Poland. The region is named after its capital city Liberec, fifth largest city in the Czech Republic, a very busy place, surrounded by the Jizera hills and mountains. The Liberec Region has four main districts: Semily, Jablonec nad Nisou, Ceska Lipa, and of course Liberec. Business in the Liberec Region consists primarily of machinery industries, glass and plastic, but the region is still renowned for its textile industry too. Historically the city of Liberec has been known for its textile industry since the 14th century, and once named the "Manchester" of the Czech Republic.
