I started my death metal / HC / grind Band with the name breathe//die in 2018.
We knew, that we want to have that chainsaw sound but also tune to drop-A and play fast.
So I started chaising tones.
I build a lot of HM-2 clones and tested several boutique HM-2s but always had the same problem.
The gain section of the HM-2 was to fuzzy and flubby for my taste.
I started messing with Tubescreamers and treble boosts to tame the low frequencies going into the the gain section of the HM-2.
But i still was not satisfied.
Then I found a combination of features and build my first prototype.
In that time I met Daniel from Lichtlaerm Audio who just lives 10 minutes by bike from my flat and I showed him what I have discovered and asked him, if he would like to do a limited run of pedals with that feature set for our first release in late December 2020.
So we became friends while Germany was in lock-down mode. :D
Of caus daniel the wizzard added a few more things and corrected a few major mistakes in my schematic and so the breathe//die chainsaw pedal was born and sold out in a couple of days after the release.
A few months later we saw on of the breathe//die pedals on reverb for a shitload of money and started talking about a chainsaw pedal that will fit in Lichtlaerm Audios linup.
So we talked a lot about the possible feature set and here we are now in September 2023.
Almost 3 years later with the
Lichtlaerm Audio MEDUSA
My dream come true chainsaw pedal.
In breathe//die we are just 2 persons.
One drumming person and me, ben-john, who is screaming and playing the guitar wich signal got split into 3 Amps.
One down pitched signal into a few bass pedals into an orange terror bass 500.
the other two signals go into two medusa Pedals directly into an orange pedal baby.
Hell Yea, the sound is amazing.
The tight chainsaw sound I always was looking for.
I hope you enjoy the pedal as much as we do.
If you have any questions.
Let me know.
I am happy to answer.
Cheers.
