yes a four chord is a B diminished or Bb7 or E7 or Db7 or G7 are all family of that B diminished so you could take any of those dominant 7 chords and use the diminished scale starting with the roots half whole half etc same pattern.... I guess there are some notes that will start on whole like the 3rd and others but pretty sure the 3rd of those chords is at least one... I guess if you take that 4 chord as an E7 then think of its 5 you can use the F# diminished and believe you will get the B7 from that as being one of the 4 dominant 7 chords ... all that jazz must explain why when you play a blues it sounds good to slide the chords from a half step up or down
